Insofar as I made money. I never got incredibly high up, though.
Don't laugh.
Man, if you can turn some cash doing something you enjoy that's awesome, not something to laugh at.
That's true. I would just basically go to local tournies and make my money off scrubs. I would feel bad, but I would teach them afterwards if they wanted to learn so it wasn't a complete waste. And it wasn't a lot of money, either.
Whenever I'd go to the giant regional tournies I would get my ass kicked, but I made a lot of friends and don't regret anything. It was fun times.
Ah, college, the days when I had free time. *sighs*
I used to hustle people in Halo, by acting like a scrub, then going for doubling the bets.
I easily made a couple of hundred in a day going to different LANs doing that.
Also my reputation proceeded me in 2d fighters, so I couldn't do anything there.
Only 2d fighter I was never good at was MvC 2, because I thought it was horribly broken and rarely played.
This kid charlie would do that. He's phenomenal but would act like a scrub and money-match kids, doubling them and tripling them up.
I never did that; I think it's dishonest.
I would clean them out in the tourney, though. 300 bucks or whatever, and I could feel good about myself. :P
To be fair, most of the kids I played doing that were complete and total cocks.
I never did that in any other game. Only Halo.
I did that once, if we're being brutally honest. I still felt kind of bad, but not really.
There was a supreme and total cockbag at this tourney. I was just dicking around and he watched me play against a level 1 CPU, on whom I was practicing just simple combos.
He wanted to moneymatch me, and I said I didn't do that. There was no one else I knew at the tourney, and if I didn't recognize anyone, that pretty much meant I was the best there, because I knew all of the decent and great NJ players. So I refused.
He then called me a pussy and said I was scared.
Really juvenile stuff that shouldn't have angered me, but it did.
I then said, "Okay, we'll play a match for 10 bucks."
We played and I picked fox and proceeded to flail around like an idiot, hamming up getting all flustered but pretending not to know what I was doing. He destroyed me and I turned to him and said "Give me one more shot. 10 more bucks."
I then picked fox again and obliterated him, only taking 10% damage. He gave me the money and I told him to think before calling people pussies and to act a little nicer. But I still felt bad.
In fact, that one moment of weakness was when I resolved not to take advantage of people like that. A lot of players were very arrogant because they had never been to tourneys and didn't know what actual competition was like, so they were eager to moneymatch people because they thought they were good. I don't consider it ethical to hustle.
Youtube comments for a video of a guy who thinks the LHC will open up a gateway for Satan to destroy the earth.

Suffice it to say it was morbidly hilarious.
That's not how it goes! Noooooooo!

But that's what you said! Look, it says so right up there!

How could you possibly take his side? I'm ashamed.

Don't play a video game for money, asshole.
What the fuck is that nonsense?
Is that the new FF? What is that?
What the fuck is she holding in her hand.
Duh.
I don't know, I think it's cool.
WRONG
GUNCHUCKS ARE THE BEST THING IN THE WORLD
Have you ever tried to use a gun and a sword at the same time? It's incredibly inconvenient.
Get back to me when you have, and you'll apologize because a gun sword is a blessing.
Gun swords are pretty common occurrences in final fantasy.
TWEWYYYY
Who other than Squall had them?
I'm drawing a blank.
