Oh, THE CORE from Top Cow's pilot season was great as well. Same writer who's doing PAX ROMANA, NIGHTLY NEWS, and the upcoming SECRET WARRIORS book with Bendis.

Moment of the week: Harry Dresden beating three Hags at the same time, with an assist by an 800 pound gorilla.

I'm torn about getting the Storm Front mini this fall
    On one hand, Dresden
On the other, I've already read that story, and really could just wait till the in-between story that will come after it

I think Sturges really understands the characters in Blue Beetle. None of them seemed any different (voice-wise) from Roger's run.

The story didn't quite grab me yet, but maybe because I was expecting it to tie-in to Jaime's Manhunter appearance. They could still do that, I guess

I can't wait for the next miniseries in September to start.

I thought it was okay. The dialogue just wasn't as snappy as it used to be. I don't know, but something about the voice sounded different. Maybe because it was sort of a jumping on point and so they had to recap a lot.

Alternately, for seven bucks, go buy Storm Front

There are so many Dresden moments that were made for comic books. I mean, one book opens with him rescuing a box of puppies from a burning building while giant monkey demons fling their burning poop at him. Seriously. That's the first page!

Blood Rites was generally a classy book
Anything with evil sorcery being done on the set of a porn film has to be

Only thing that seemed off to me was Peacemaker working with a bunch of redneck volunteer border patrol guys. Seems like he'd have better and more profitable things to do elsewhere.

That was the point I started thinking "Chris Sims needs to read this stuff!"

The (second last - *sob*) ending of Catwoman:
    Well...thats interesting.

Wonder what the hell Pfiefer has got planned there.

Poor Bruce, him and his crazy women.

The whole issue was full of win. There were some great, funny moments. But the ending really got to me. I still can't believe such a great comic is coming to an end.

    It's good.

I mean you still have to deal with the overexposition at times, and eventhough Claremont is especially noted for that - it's true for all comic books from that era.

But these are the stories that made X-Men the biggest franchise in comic books all throughout the 80s

you should pick up the first couple Essential X-Mens, that will get you all the way through the Dark Phoenix Saga.

There's still good stuff after that, but that was for sure the peak.

I've always kind of wondered how Wolverine went from fighting the Hulk to joining the X-Men, so I will pick up the appropriate Essential when next I can.

You'll also get to read the issue where it was "revealed" that Wolverine's claws were not in fact just part of his costume.

because claremont didn't want just anyone to be able to "become" wolverine by putting on the gloves (ps, chris claremont it turns out people can make weird knife things and pretend to be wolverine anyway. they just don't have a healing factor to patch them up when they cut off a finger)

And the hints that Logan was actually an evolved Wolverine that I heard pointed to the original plan for the character?

Also, pretending to be Wolverine just gets you killed by ninjas, and who'd want that?

It's everything from Giant Size X-Men to right before the start of the Dark Phoenix Saga (which is a terrible cut off but I guess they couldn't really justify putting anymore issues in that monster).

ps: if you click the thumbnail it makes it bigger

If I had an unlimited amount of funds I'd definitely buy all the old Marvel Omnibus, in the hopes that one day they publish enough that I could have the complete run on my shelf.

Ooh! The one with the Sentinels! And everyone thinking Xavier is nuts! And a really awesome cliffhanger ending!
    They're in space!
