    Why? They can (as can any HTML) but I can't picture any real use for them except possibly breaking the rest of the page from putzed up tags.

    It's nice for formatting.

    Also, I'm pretty sure vBB is smart enough to keep you from fucking up a page, especially if free ones like SMF are smart enough to do that.

    I can definitely see situations where they'd be useful. Unfortunately, I bet I could think of at least a dozen ways to misuse and abuse them (much like they are already in web design).

    Is it more trouble, both in terms of implementation and moderation, than it's worth? That's the question.

    If I remember correctly from another circus thread, every custom thing they implement has to be reimplemented every time vBulletin is updated.

    Tables would also probably be nice for G&T... RPGs and things, you see.

    Several bulletin board programs support tables already, and it wouldn't surprise me if vBB does and they just haven't enabled it.

    Sure. It would take a bit of formatting skill to make a table with one of these, but it could be done pretty easily.

    I think there are some things where tables would be an ideal solution as opposed to kluged lists or codes or what have you.

    I guess I was spoiled by proboards, where they have this particular feature.
