Same deal with the White Lions war lion I think too. It's one of the few classes I haven't tried, but I've seen at least 3 different lions models.

so how is magus/caster classes for destruction?

In terms of general effectiveness Magus essentially have no damage right now (at least in terms of higher level play). There are supposed to be big changes coming for them though, so that should hopefully change things up a bit.

Sorcerers are essentially death incarnate if they get some heals once in awhile. Most expect this to be toned down a tad.

I do, mostly because I keep hearing opinions that are totally different on the Squig herder -- the "guide" in the OP is mostly positive but everyone else seems to hate em.

Also are there any debuff type classes that specialize on draining moral or AP? I've seen a handful of abilities scattered around that do that, but I haven't heard any discussion about it being particularly good. Or are those abilities like CoH energy, where they just regen too fast for draining to be more than a situational tactic?

The review in the original post is from the point of view of an admiteddly early Squig Herder if I'm not mistaken. A lot of the problems with the class would not be apparent to him, such as one of the larger problems currently being that the squigs are tied to Mastery Lines. The best Squig overall is the Horned Squig who is tied to the worst mastery line. The reason said Mastery line is bad is because it's a melee line on a Ranged DPS class.

Even speccing the other lines though, the Squig Herder has overall mediocre damage. It's a great fun as a PvE class, but currently I would not suggest RvR with it.

And not anything that specializes in draining AP and Morale, but there are some debuff specialists that can certainly do those things. A Marauder specced savagery has some pretty vicious debuffs for example, including an attack which causes an AP drain.

I cant see a writeup about the swordmaster on the first page so im a little curious about them, how do they play? ive heard they share mechanics with the BO, but also heard alot of people say they are the least effective tanks at pretty much everything.

Also is clipping a big issue in the game? By that i mean stuff like cloacks going through your body and such. on a lot of screens ive seen the arm of the swordmaster clip through the shield and its somewhat annoying to see that.

From my small beta experience, clipping was a big issue on character creation, but not really noticeable in play. However, I didn't have a cloak, shield, helm, or shoulders on any of my chars, which are the traditional clipping problems.

There's some work to be done on clipping, particularly in regards to cloaks and mounts. It's not terribly distracting or anything though.

    Question:

One of my biggest gripes I have towards WoW is that the two sides looks the same. Basically a Human Warrior looks like a Orc Warrior, because the developers are lazy and just use the same textures on both races.

Is this the same case in Warhammer Online?

To expand and repeat a bit: armor is class based so the Bright Wizard has a very distinctive look from say the Sorcerer even though they are class mirrors.

There is no way you would ever confuse someone on the Destruction side with someone on the Order side. One of their stated goals was that at a distance just by seeing a player's silhouette you would be able to determine its class -- they succeeded with this.

The art styles are extremely stylized. While many people from one class may look the same, but with different colored armor, you would never confuse a Witch Hunter with a Black Orc. Each armor piece is designed for one class, and no race shares the same class.

Is there any word on them optimizing for lower computer requirements? If I play it I'll do nothing but PvP, and my lowend machine was struggling really hard with the beta. I'm sure it'll be better on release, just wondering if devs are making it an announced priority or anything.

Not that I'm aware of. The client for beta/preview doesn't really have much in the way of settings to tinker with. It's just sort of locked at medium.

Heyy. I have two questions I hope can be answered. I'm overwhelmed to say the least.

    1) I found my first PQ in the Empire starting area and it rocked. However, after a couple times I didn't get influence anymore. Also, no matter how much I participated I was always in such a low rank... What gives?

    2) Along with influence, I went to the reward guy to get my new pistol. Is there a way to get both weapons? Or is it a pick one and that's it kind of deal?

    3) I was sitting in an NPC and went afk. When I returned I saw that I gained 3 renown ranks instantly! How did I do that? I was under the impression that RR are from PvP. I haven't killed anyone yet!

    1) Once you fill up the three bars that's all the inf you can get for that chapter. You've got it maxed out for that section.

    2) You can only choose one

    3) Most likely your faction took control of that zone which gives everyone of that faction in the zone a big slab of RR.

Probably better to ask in here, I guess:

My brother has a closed beta account that he isn't using, can I use that to play in this current wave of beta?

Also, where can I download the client from?

Is that a click on stunt devils or something?

I'm finding tanks to be a bit over powered in PvP. I've seen tanks run into other teams forces, take down some guys, then run away. It's a thousand times worse if they have a healer with them.

Tanks are easy to deal with on their own

but if they are healer supported they become monsters. But so does every other class, it's just that tanks get the healers attention easier. I remember me and others were spam-healing two marauders who pretty much by themselves managed to disperse a zerg

How many tactic slots do you end up getting? And what's ballistic rating actually do? Up damage/accuracy?

Ballistic rating ups damage, weapon rating ups armor penetration. They're both important stats.

You also wind up with six total tactic slots; 4 for career tactics, 1 reknown, and 1 tome. Although most of the reknown tactics suck something fierce.

FAQ threads are for two things. Questions and Answers. I'll be closing this thing in the next day or so at any rate, since this thread has outlived it's usefullness. I can't imagine that the number of potential questions to be asked hasn't been exhausted.

When in a Public Quest, if you join a scenario and then come back before that specific PQ ends, do you retain your contribution?

Similarly, if you run back to town to vendor and come back, does the same happen?

    I believe so yes

I've died several times during the end of a PQ but I got to roll for the loot while I was still running back from town. So the contribution sticks, at least for some time until that PQ recycles

Yes for the second question. Probably not for the first because in the time it takes you to complete a scenario, that PQ you were running probably got completed 1-2 times.

I don't give a damn how they play, the only class I'm interested in is Chosen.

I've played a little Warhammer. I tried my best to get into it. My buddy let me paint his Chaos army mostly composed of Chosen and a few Marauders and play with it at a Games Day. Let me tell you, I've never had a rulebook waved at me more times in a single game session for ANY game before that day. I was immediately turned off by the slow paced, rule ridden dicefest (not to mention the smell of that store... PHEW).

Now that that's out of the way. I love painting these miniatures and I think the setting is fuckawesome. I'm NEVER drawn towards the "evil" side in any game, I usually tend towards being neutral. However, Chaos just has so many cool units that I can't see myself playing as anything else.

So, the class I've chosen is... Chosen. :P I'd like to hear a bit about how they play, but I'm gonna give this game a whirl for the free month anyway and see how I like it. Chaos here I come.
