I need more info on Rock Band!
For starters, there is the Rock Band WikiPedia page that is up-to-date for the most part. The folks in this thread are more than happy to answer any quick questions you might have.

Oh man, this game is awesome! But I'm stuck on...
Hold on! As usual, there are people out there far better than you that full combo "Freebird" on Expert while upside down on leftmode with their ear lobes. For the most part, you can find a gold mine of info and help by visiting the ScoreHero Rock Band forums and checking out the stickied topics and subforums.

So, what songs are in this?
This WikiPedia page has them all listed and sorted accordingly. The PS3 and 360 versions have a Music Store in it that allows you to buy/download the weekly DLC.

Hmm, I want to see the notecharts for...
Pretty much any on-disc song can be found on YouTube. If you want to see notecharts for DLC or simply want to hear the music, check out the Rock Band DLC Song Database page.

Fuck, PS2/Wii don't get DLC, right?
Sadly no. However, there is a Rock Band Track Pack Vol. 1 currently available.

Dude! This game totally needs...
Yeah yeah...we know. How about you go tell Harmonix what you want in the game via their Song Request page. Will they listen? Who knows. But with all the awesome they've thrown on us every week, there's always the possibility...

GOD DAMMIT! MY GEAR IS BROKEN!
Harmonix/EA/MTV have been nice so far and allowed people to RMA their broken equipment via EA's Support Site. However, the deadline for non-60 day reciept RMAs is October 1st, 2008. After that, you need your reciept to send stuff in.

I'm tired of playing "Welcome Home" with these retards...
So are we. This is why there is a PA group for Xbox Live folk. If you are down, throw a friend request at Rock Band PA and check out who's on the list. For PA rockin' we:
  • Headsets aren't mandatory but it does make it more fun.
  • Before throwing game invites, send a message beforehand to negotiate what instruments people are playing.
  • Warn others before you start yodeling "Seven" with an open mic.
  • Don't be a dick. This is just for fun.
  • If you have DLC, be prepared to play it because most of us are bored with most of the main setlist. DLC isn't a requirement but if we see it, we just might play it.
So I heard this new single from the Sex Generals...
Ah, that would be some of us. We have a casual ScoreHero group for full band PA outings. sadly, only 4 at a time otherwise we would Bang Camaro this bitch. This is as casual as it gets so there are no scheduled meetups. If there's enough of us capable of challenging some scores, we'll go for it. Here are some of the recent outings.

Hitch a Ride - The Sex Generals

    • Austin, Texas
    • Istanbul, Turkey
    • Madrid, Spain
    • Dublin, Ireland
    New Features
    • Juke Box Mode - A music video-like venue that allows you to see your band perform tracks.
    • Breakneck Speed - Hyperspeed mode returns, does not prevent unlocking.
    • Daily Challenges - HMX will release battle of the band challenges to be ranked versus people on your friend list, your region, and then worldwide.
    • New Vocals Talky System - For the most part, talky sections are pretty much freebie sections as was the original intent. This makes talky-heavy songs far more fun than previously.
    • Online Band World Tour - Take your music talents on the online road and size yourself up against everyone else out there with your own band.
    • Drum Trainer - An in depth mode that allows you to learn how to play key parts of the instrument.
    • New and Old Gear - While adding a bunch of new outfits and accessories for your characters, they've also retained the old gear in case you don't want to change your look in Rock Band 2.
    • Song Selection in Band Quickplay - The ability to choose what song your pick-up online band is now up to a round robin system to prevent demented morons from picking "Welcome Home" again.
    • Disc Exporting - Export almost all the Rock Band 1 on-disc songs onto your hard drive (Xbox 360 & PS3) for use in Rock Band 2. The only songs that cannot be transferred due to licensing issues are "Run to the Hills", "Paranoid", and "Enter Sandman". The cost is $4.99 or 400msp. The update for this was made available Sept. 5th for the 360 and Sept. 11th for the PS3. The songs take up about 1.5 gigs of the 360's HD. To export simply go into Options from the main menu and choose Export Songs.

    Additional 20 Songs for Free?

Yes, confirmed by Harmonix. They wanted to ship the game with 100+ songs but didn't get to do so in time. As such, another 20 will be available for download "soon after release" for the price of ZERO! Still no official word regarding which songs they will be.

    Carrying this over for awesome.

I really just want to see these note charts to figure out whether to get the whole thing or just YYZ.

Yeah, I also don't know if I'm going to grab it all. I think if I only pick and choose YYZ is a must, and I might go for Camera Eye as well just because it's an epic 10+ minute song.

I love the whole album, so I'm just going to download it all no questions asked...which makes the current situation sting a little more since this is one of the few times that I would do that.

Well I gave Constant Motion another shot. Still failing out at around 15%, though I feel alt-strumming the opening parts helped me a lot to focus on the rhythm part. I need practice that riff.

With my bro backing me up on expert drums we made it to about 60% or so, right when everything starts getting crazy.

I just did this, but it was mostly because I'm moving from Sydney to London around the time RB2 comes out.

It was a choice between shipping RB1 to London, or getting RB2 to be shipped to me. The choice was obvious.

Yes, they are delayed. Because of unspecified "technical difficulties".

On the brighter side that will give you time to fix your drum pads for Rush!

So is the thread title an allusion to the fact that there will be no DLC next week because of PAX or that there just won't be a thread title change next week because of PAX?

The answer to this is crucial.

As long as this Rush thing is sorted out, there will almost certainly be DLC next week. Don't worry.

It's just because Arikado is away at PAX, so he can't change it.

So apparently some guy on the RB forums says that the 20 free songs are gonna be announced at PAX, but the place he works for got the press release early.

    Here's the songs:
Adam Ant - Goody Two Shoes
    Cinderella - Somebody Save Me
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - The Skin Of My Yellow Country Teeth
    Counting Crows - Mr. Jones
    Creed - Arms Wide Open
    David Bowie - China Girl
Dethklok - Briefcase Full Of Guts
    Extreme - More Than Words
    Freezepop - Jem ('08 Version)
    Limp Bizkit - Break Stuff
    Liz Phair - Never Said
Maroon 5 - Makes Me Wonder
Nickelback - How You Remind Me
    The Police - Omega Man
The Rentals - Friends of P
Slaughter - Fly to the Angels
    Stereolab - Parsec
    Sugar - Helpless
Wall of Voodoo - Mexican Radio
Ween - It's Gonna Be A Long Night

Yeah, there's some shit on there, but holy shit China Girl and Dethklok and Mr. Jones and Goody Two Shoes. I hope it's true. Which it might not be.

I could believe that list. The inclusion of Freezepop gives it some street cred. I also find it kinda funny that some of the more controversial artists, in that some people would flip their shit if they were on-disc, such as Bizkit, Nickleback, and Creed, are on that list. I wonder if you'll be able to download these individually, or if they come as a pack. I could see them being individual just so the haters can be easily silenced.

That list does suck for the most part. I'd probably only be interested in about 5 of those 20 songs. I would definately be getting at least the Dethklok. I wish they'd re-release Thunderhorse for RB. It was one of my favorite bonus songs in GH2.

The Skin of My Yellow Country Teeth would be a blast, and Dethklok is always welcome

I'm foreseeing some sort of gaming charity marathon that involves playing Creed/Nickelback over and over, if this list is fo real.
