Albiet one that I doubt many of you use but a feature nonetheless. We are going to disable the ability to 'watch topics for replies.'
Why are we doing this? We are a fast moving board, some of our more popular topics will get, and I'm pulling a number out of nowhere here, 20 posts an hour and often more. This in and of itself isn't a real problem. If you want your inbox flooded that's your business. The problem is that many service providers are doing everything in their power to stop spam.
"Wait deni, what does that princess in africa, viagra and russian teens have to do with the forum?"
Well Billy, I'll tell you. See to hotmail, aol, time-warner, gmail or a myriad of other providers, all of those topic responses look like spam at best, attacks at worse so unless you've setup your spam filters to allow any and all garbage from this board, it gets bounced.
This causes a whole host of problems that I'll let alpha talk on if he feels the need but we think that at the very least it will take a load off of the servers which means a faster, more stable forum on which to exchange vibrant and colorful ideas like "why does the xbox suck so badly" or "more like gay-lo am i right?"
There is some good news though. When we upgrade the board in December we will be replacing the email notifications with RSS 2.0 notifications. I'm told this is the Cat's Pajamas and a salve to cure all ills. I even hear that RSS 2.0 has saved countless crack addicted orphans with cancer.

Doc: That's right, twenty five years into the future. I've always dreamed on seeing the future, looking beyond my years, seeing the progress of mankind. I'll also be able to see who wins the next twenty-five world series.
And this is an excellent removal, as one time I somehow managed to watch a picture scavenger hunt for replies unwittingly, only to wake up to a 100% full inbox.
But does the "watch for replies" function send an E-mail every time someone replies or just once for all the replies untill the next time you check the topic?
For example:
The topic is "Anus Anus lol!" and I'm watching it.
Cocmongler post and I get an E-mail, but I don't check the thread.
Now when, GabeNewellisfatlol14 makes a post (keep in mind I've yet to read Cockmonglers post) do I get a new E-mail? Because if I do, that's a good way to cut down on traffic right there.
But so is the RSS thingy, so nevermind.
Well it's about freakin' time. I suggested this ages ago and got eCockSlapped(tm) by everyone here.
"I use it all the time!" they'd say.
"You're fucking lazy," I'd retort. "If you rely on email to tell you when someone responds to your retarded posts, you should be drawn and quartered."
"Shut up, Señor. U R TEH SUX."
And so forth.
Yeah, but to be fair Señor, U R TEH SUX.
sorry.
CUZ THERE'S SOMETHING IN THE MIDDLE AND IT'S GIVING ME A RASH
<obligatory "your mama didn't think so last night" retort>
...shit.
God fucking damn it.
And I approve of this removal.
oh. watch topic. useless thing. glad its gone!
carry on, lads

It was a mean bastard trick, especially when he knew how it can fuck up a persons mail box.
