I'm taking that in addition to the whole thing where Danny says "One dude survived"
Paraphrasing of course
And the fact that we know Orson was older than dirt
And the fact that we don't know why he survived which will presumably be explained soon
Swierczynski confirmed that the Immortal Weapons would have a role in the remaining chapters of “The Mortal Iron Fist,” part two of which its stores in August.
So yeah...I think everyone's making much ado about nothing when it comes to this bidness 'bout all the Iron Fists dying at 33. We already know of at least two who didn't in Orson and Bei Bang Wen. And it's looking like Kwai Jun Fan's gonna do the same. It's just gonna be one of those things that gets mentioned that one time and will never get brought up again.
Plus, I mean, we already know there's gonna be more of those little issues like #7 and #15. I doubt they're going to all end with the dude from the eighth city showing up and ruining them.
Geebs said no more discussing the dying
Stop it
And I doubt the dying is going to be a one time thing since he's FIGHTING THE THING THAT KILLED 32 FISTS

I want to know why 33 is so important to the Iron Fists, since they didn't always win the contest, and so Kun L'un would not have always appeared every 33 years, and so 33 would not always be significant.
Well, numerology's a tad bit more popular and ingrained in the culture--one that the IIF authors seemed to have acquainted themselves with quite well--than, Let's make sure to kill three per century. Especially since IIRC that isn't a good omen itself to do such a thing in threes.
Well, until Orson broke the cycle, every Fist had to die in order for the next to be "born"
And they're dying between the day they turn 33 and the day the turn 34
So life and death
Or something
I'm just gonna continue talking out of my ass and babbling
Wiggin may have a point in the whole bridging life and death. By "doubling" 3 into 33 it could be that 33 represents dual life, or an eternal life of Earth and Heaven.
As for the irony, it's that 4+4 = 8. So since numbers can be manipulated multiple ways Death + Death = Fortune/Prosperity/Wealth. Two wrongs may not make a right, but two deaths makes a rather blessed motherfucker in China.
But it's not like they have another guy waiting in the wings to immediately become Iron Fist. As shown previously, it takes a while to train / vet the guy.
after all the shit he did last arc, i imagine he has quite a bit of therapy or something to go through before he is allowed to do anything at all, much less be considered for the role of iron fist
it would be neat to see him reform though
actual character growth and evolution
i doubt it will happen, but it would be neat
But it's not like they have another guy waiting in the wings to immediately become Iron Fist

I'm not talking about the current Iron Fist, I mean with every Iron Fist - there's clearly a period of time between the death of an old Iron Fist and the 'birth' of a new Iron Fist.
Also, you aren't born an Iron Fist, or at least you aren't born with the title. They get killed on their 33rd birthday, not their 33rd anniversary of service as an Iron Fist
my favorite part is how iron fist just lets the bad guy meander away. he beats up the thug, then just decides "aww, get outta here you knucklehead crimelord."

Note: Not about the dying, about the number
It could be the dragon dude was just like
OK 32 is too young, but 34? Come on
I got it. 33. Perfect.
Ironically, eight is Luck. Hence the rather obsessive attention to eights being played today in Beijing.

what's ironic about eight being a lucky number in china?
lol wiggin

Especially not now that Lei Kung is in charge of K'un-L'un

Just at the age of 33
So they get a year to squirm
Stop being dumb

And the Acting was so bad - I really did wonder if I was about to witness some Electra/Iron Fist porn.
Do lots and lots of heroin.
They didn't really elaborate. They just implied that Orson's love of drugs was what kept him off the "I kill you" chart of mister two face.
