To his Most Royal Majestie, Edmund the Just, King of all Britons in this the yeare of our Lourd Nine Hundreds Two Score and Seven,
My liege, it is with a heavy hart and my utmost despair that I do send this epistle to you this day. The barbarian Danes have returned to the shores of Britain and do set upon your servant with heretofore unseen levels of blaspheme and violence. Where once their great Dragon ships on our shores once entailed only quick raids upon hamlets and priories, they have now shown a capacity for incredible hubris and planning. I feare that York castle and the town surrounding has been besieged by these cunning Pagan monsters. Theyr blood soaked warriors daily pelt our walls with the heads and arms of your murdered subjects, and the smoke of burning cottages and fields blots the sun out. To my shame and dismay, the brave warriors you did entrust to me were lured beyond our walls and ambushed. Though they fought well they were cut apart by crazed beastes who paraded about in nought but theyr skin despite the horrific cold. York keep is now defended by my own personal troupe of Huscarls and the Town Militiamen I was able to levy in the mean time.
Were this all that beset your servants, I would not write with such feare and desperation. The walls of your citie are strong and the stocks piled high with grain. We might hold out in siege for many months and your honored Majestie would surely raise a most mighty force in that time and drive the heathens from your lands. But the Lourd Most High is testing us mightily with travails. It seems the clever raiders did not simply set out to burn and pillage on a brief whim, but instead planned this assault for some time. Infiltrators sit inside our walls, disguised as faithful citizens and loyal servants. Already we have found murdered soldiers and townsfolk, and but for the quick eyes of the sentries, our gates would have been thrown wide for the ravaging army at our feet. I have taken what steps I can to flush out the imposters, but I feare that should York not be reinforced soon our populace may be slaughtered from within and your antient lands laid waste by these scheming Danes.
Please Majestie, make the utmost haiste and bring down the fury of Our Lourd upon the heads of these fiends. Until then, I remain your faithful servant,
Lord YorkStandard Phalla Rules:
You may not communicate regarding the game with someone who is dead, unless there is some specific mechanic in place to do so. In that case, communication normally goes through the narrator.
You may not use any anonymous method of communication to discuss the game. Forum-based PMs, external IMs, and e-mails are allowed as long as the person you are talking to knows who you are.
You may not use screencaps to "prove" anything to anyone.
You may not post verbatim role PMs to "prove" anything to anyone. The basic villager PM will be posted in the thread.
Specific Viking Phalla Rules:
This is a hidden mechanics game. You do not know how many Vikings are in the population or what they can do. On the side of the English are the villagers, the Lord’s Huscarls who act as a vigilante, and the Town Militia who act as a guardian. There are other roles, but what they are and what they entail is a mystery to you!
Every turn you will vote in red like so: !vote PsychoLarry1. The player with the most votes will be arrested by Lord York and placed in the castle dungeon. These players are effectively dead. Players killed by the vote will not have their roles or allegiances revealed. If a player is killed by anything but the vote, his or her role will be revealed.
There are no conversions. This is a 50 player game.
Each turn ends at 11pm EST

Villager PM:
Villager – Sweet Heavenly Christ these damned Vikings! What’d you ever do to them? ‘Ere you was just minding your own business when your old mate Barry’s head came flying over the castle walls and into your bleedin’ wife’s lap! That sur’ enough set her to screaming for a bloody week it did. You’ll do whatever you have to help out Lord York to get these bastard Northmen out of England and out of your life.

Let's see if I can manage to get past night 1 this time.
Surely Lord York meant "blasphemy", which would be someone blaspheming, though of course I wouldn't wish to blaspheme the Lord's grasp of our language.

If a lord wants to use "blaspheme" as a noun, I'm not going to say anything.
Neither are you, Capiche?
I CAN'T STOP!
Note Rainfall's immediate assumption that she'll be evil.
MAXIMUSSSSS!!!!!!!
Also, did Vikings like children? If you catch my drift.
Also, welcome BobCesca!

Oh god are we going to do this shit again?
Until the end of time.
BY THOR'S BALLS! THOU ART INSULTING MY HONOR!
Saexes at dawn, I say!
So many things to say to this... I think I'll stick with:
"I'll have to pass, I'm happily married in a monogamous relationship. Thanks for the offer though"
:P
OR, or you could get past this and act like a "normal" for a while.....
Do you want to try that maybe? See how that goes?
what's all this about then?
And Maximus, not a chance. I like having a perma grudge, makes Day 1 easier.
You keep bringing that up. I'm going to have to defend Maximus for that.
Ahaha...
I am going to have to work something like this into a narration at some point.
I don't like the sound of that
