PAX Missed Connections Thread

CurtDoggCurtDogg Registered User regular
edited September 2008 in PAX Archive
Thought I'd start this thread for people who met other cool people at the con, but didn't get a chance to talk to them more, or get any contact info, so post here if you got 'em.

Here's mine. When I was waiting in line for The Wizard, I was Pictochatting with a couple of Psychonauts cosplayers I had met earlier on in the day, and had sat next to the one cosplaying as Raz when the movie was gonna start. The Wizard disc was scratched, so everyone voted we watch Tron, and during the movie, me and her were the main ones making out-loud jokes at it. I thought she was really awesome, so if you're on the board, or if anyone is friends with her, please send me a PM. I was the guy in the Mega64 shirt.

Well sorry to disappoint you guys, but I meant making jokes out loud. =P

But yeah, we were talking a lot, and it occured to me later "....oh yeah, getting her name or something would've been a rad idea. Smooth."

This isn't a "missed connection" so much as a "where the hell are you guys?" Also im not 100% on the spelling.

    SHERVIN THE TANK AND BRIAN,

This is Seth. Where the hell are you guys? Did you go back to canadia* already? There is one more night of drinking ahead! If you aren't still around then at least send me your forum handles.

Also what is going on tonight (sunday)? Anyone? Gameworks is closed.

    *spelling intentional.

Or the "you went back to your hotel before I could plan what to say" thread. Yeah. I did ask her friend to give her one of my buttons though.

Also, all the guys I met in line were awesome. Every group played Mario Kart, despite the massive lag. And the Left 4 Dead group from day one... my unit broke and I felt bad for delaying the demo, but then Valve asked us into the private demo room while they fixed it and guilty turned to smug. Oh yes... and all the people who watched my bag, my drinks and food, etc for me without stealing anything whatsoever. I'm sorry I don't remember most of your names, but you are all win.

To all the people I met filming and interviewing in the BYOC area Friday night at around midnight-1am, specifically the guy dressed up as Waldo, (Or a candy cane, whichever you like), the guy with the motorized steampunk PC, the guy with the two reservoir dogs PCs, the guy who won the contest for shittiest PC and was given one (we chatted for about an hour and you explained Assassins to me), and anyone else that I interviewed for stratics.com thursday night in the lobby of the Sheraton, or Friday night in the BYOC area.....

Please drop me a PM so I can follow up with you, and get you guys copies of the footage, and such (or if you happen to know who these people's forum handles are, please let me know).

Yep, we pawn'd those zombies hardcore. I'm the guy with the glasses and sexy black shirt, and unless the units died more than once, you're the dude with the Logitech mouse who couldn't stand the Razor guys' way-too-freaking-loud microphone?

In that case, these connections threads are awesome. Greetings, RocketTaco.

Oh yeah, that girl was pretty awesome. I wore heelys, she wore roller skates. First time ever that I've seen someone one-up me at my own game like that, and it made for a convenient ice breaker. Eventually, security escorted her outside (she rebounded however.). Later, an enforcer noticed me on my heelys outside, and it turns out that this was one of the same enforcers who lectured her ("She was really hot, but I still had to do it.").

Sunday, she was sitting at the guild booth after Felicia left, sitting in as her stunt double (not her actual occupation). A bunch of guys mistook her for the real thing, one of them started with "Sorry to bother you again," and one guy asked to have his picture taken with fake-Felicia Day. She also started signing things as "Felicia Day's stunt double," until I pointed that there actually was a stunt double in Dr. Horrible ("Thank you, Hammer Man!"). At one point, I made the joke, "This is Felicia Day's decoy who she uses to distract the stalkers... Which is how we met." If you saw my Felicia Day photo from previous threads, you would know why that's funny. Unless of course your name is Felicia Day, in which case, you might find that story creepy.

There's also a picture somewhere of me and her fighting sonic screwdriver vs. sonic pen. Apparently, she works in the toy industry, and she used to watch the older series of the show (I'll admit that I never got around to it.).

My fiance and I played Chez Dork with some really nice Enforcers and never caught their names. One of them was a dude in a tiara, and another one's handle was Indigo and she was really cute but had lost her voice. Apparently now I will never actually get to hear it. That makes me sad.

I was invited to see The Dark Knight at IMAX by some nice folks on Sunday. I said I couldn't go, and rather than get any contact info, I left to finish some much-needed work. If you're still around and want to see the movie again, here I is. Same goes to the nice group of folks who invited me to a game of Last Night on Earth on Friday and converted me--I'm all for more board gaming like that again, guys/gal. I just got Catan and have nobody to play it with in my circle of friends.

Otherwise, whoever else is in the Seattle area and has a perpetual LFG tag around their neck, I may try to cobble something together through my print outlet for more frequent public gaming events. Or I might just start being creepy and asking random people to come over and game at a stranger's house. Or not.

Even if I don't get off my ass and make either of those happen, thanks to all who played stuff with me at this year's PAX. I had a blast. See you next year, if not sooner.

Hey! It was nice talking to you on Saturday night, you are very nice (I was the guy who turned the sumo into a chair so you could pose for people without having to get up off the ground constantly). I also enjoyed losing in Tetris to your friend/entourage/beat me at tetris guy. Hopefully you enjoyed the concert that night, I saw you Sunday outside the con but you were with a bunch of friends and I was awaiting my subway fix so I didn't get to say hi or anything. And what went wrong with the paint?

Also, I would like to say that fellow forumers Acc3ss and Big Guy are awesome. I enjoyed talking to you guys. And also thanks very much for helping me become the first person at PAX '08 to win a new N-Gage! Though its a European one and I still haven't succeeded at charging it...

The Shorty's Drunkard was a blast, and so was finding the remains and joining what we could find of the pub crawl. Which, really, was only the Chapel when we caught up. And thanks for the pin Blain, very nice of you to give that to me.

And thanks to everyone else that helped make this an amazing PAX!

I earned a popgun for answering a Mystery Men question.

Which I not only watched recently, but did an analysis on (Working on a screenplay, reviewing the genre).

So as soon as they said "This is a question about the mystery men," I was immediately prepared to raise my hand, and then process the question after.

    It worked.

But his age was what scared me. I've never been with an older man before. I didn't know how to approach him or how to make that all important first move.

I talked to a female dressed as Annarchy on Saturday and Sunday, I had the Decepticon jacket on.

I also spoke to another female dressed as Princess Peach/Toadstoll on Sunday, between the Penny Arcade and Hothead games both and what I believe was the Lord of the Rings booth. I shared my sad story of the gamer female that i was searching for.

Oh, and I am looking for a 26 year old female Leo, descended from the Indian sub-continent. with a nose piercing and a unique lip piercing through her lip (not a lip ring, a LIP PIERCING). We spoke about Red Faction, Morrowind, and you said the unreal 3 was your current favorite. This was back in the 5th of January on the 150 to downtown. I never made my connections.
