Google Chrome

No witty thread title here.

So Google released a beta of their browser today, and a lot of you probably couldn't give two shits or if you're web devs are probably annoyed about having to account for yet another browser. Out of curiosity, I went ahead and downloaded the installer. It's a quick download and a fast install.
http://www.google.com/chrome

Currently the Chrome beta is only available for Windows.
Even though it's in beta and there will certainly be some bugs, I have to say so far I like the speed (it's noticeably faster than firefox 3 for me), it's easy as hell to move tabs around (including just dragging them to a new window), and the interface has the functionality I need without the clutter I get with other browsers. So far I like it.

There's even an in browser task manager and the browser handles each tab separately so at least in theory, if a process in a tab freezes up you can use the browser task manager to just close that tab without it affecting the other tabs.

Anyone else using/planning to try Chrome?

    It's a bloody web browser?

Probably don't work for my desktop OS, I might check it out on my laptop.

I installed it on my windows station. It looks nice.

I hardly ever use windows though. I'll be more interested when there's a Macintosh flavor.

it's a quick download and simple install, and it will even import your bookmarks from firefox during install
I'd say it's worth checking out

I'm liking this so far, especially how it puts the tabs in the title bar

has a really clean interface, feels fast, time to see if it handles quicktime better than firefox

No, not really planning to use it, all my shit is together on Firefox. Also I've probably already given Google enough of my personal information, they really don't need any more of it.

anybody else have the play/pause/progress bar completely blacked out on quicktime videos? the video plays fine, just the whole bar underneath is black

In that comic book thing they said they did that to emphasize the individuation of tabs. I thought it would bother me a lot more than it does.

I like the incognito window, not that anybody else uses this computer

still want my history to have a modicum of decency

also, it could do with a smooth scrolling feature like Firefox has, I love the speed of this thing but scrolling through the forums feels a bit jarring in comparison

definitely a beta beta, but not in the buggy, unstable sense

it just currently lacks a lot of features

still makes a good first impression
