I have posted the cover contest thread. Participation is, despite the genial tone, mandatory.
You should've just let me be the impartial judge, and person choosing all the songs to be covered. It would have been great.
We could have changed the name to "The 80s Cover Contest."
No me, then it could be called "The Amateur Opera thread."
If I did it, I'd probably get booed out of the forum. :P "The eclectic Industrial/metal/hard rock/techno/dance/alternative/pop/gaming/but no country ever thread."

If I win any week in the future, it will no doubt come down to hilarious pop covers and folk versions of Iron Maiden and Judas Priest.
So this reminds me of something I saw in Wal-Mart earlier toady. I never would have ever imagined to run into this shit in my life. I know some people don't care for Metallica, but I was very tempted to buy this just to see what it's like.

Has anyone heard this CD?
clearly someone heard Enter Sandman and thought "well, this band is perfect for putting my kids to sleep! i'll just need to tweak it a bit."
Anyone can recommend a decent sequencer for a mac? Used to love cubase when I was on a windows platform, but now I need something mac-compatible. And easily acquired.
garageband?
i honestly don't know what to tell you. Garageband is basically a dumbed down cubase that's easy to use and not unbelievably powerful. if you want something more full fledged, go with either cubase or pro tools.
Garageband doesnt support patches and filters (and I am not sure if it can be rewired to Reason), Cubase on Mac has major issues, from what I heard, and pro tools is $$$... I guess one cant have his cake and eat it too....
I hope you participate and win at least once, Irene, because I'd love to see the weirdest stuff getting covered. Like opera.
ololz i c whut u did thar, u called opera weird :P
So wait, the winner of each week picks the song to be covered next week? I didn't see anything about how exactly the songs are selected in the OP, maybe I missed that part?
Yeah, that's what I suggested. The winner each week selects the song (or songs) for the next week. Although if his or her picks are terrible, they can be vetoed by indignant participants.

Lower down on the page where they have the "related products" thing, there's a bunch of those Rockabye Baby CDs for all different kinds of bands, like Bob Marley and Pink Floyd. I think it's meant to be a cheesy gag gift for someone who's a fan of those bands. I seriously doubt it was meant to be a serious product. I mean, in order to hold on to the vestiges of my faith in mankind, I have persuaded myself of this notion.

After a bit more research, I found Rockabye Baby! Have a pretty good amount of good CDs.
Speaking of covers, I don't suppose anyone has heard of "Heigh-ho Mozart?" It was an album of Disney songs redone in the style of different classical composers. There was a follow-up album named "Bibidi-bobity Bach." I own both >.>

Arse, I don;t have any muffin tins. If I turn the oven temperature down slightly will I get away with baking muffins as a loaf instead?

There was a great album I found in a junk shop in Japan called "Mosh Pit On Disney". Lots of semi-famous bands (Jimmy Eat World, Reel Big Fish and Andrew W.K.) spring to mind covering Disney songs.

I made this half-pony half-monkey monster to please you
But I get the feeling that you don't like it -- what's with all the screaming?
You like monkeys
You like ponies
Maybe you don't like monsters so much
Maybe I used too many monkeys
Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you?
