holy shit I knew they were filming an adaptation of The Road but didn't know Viggo was in it. I read the book like 2 months ago and I actually shuddered at some of the scenes in the book.

viggo can fight with his dick floppin' all around and not even give a fuck
You know I used to hear so much bullshit about the ratings boards in general.
Stuff like, "If you say 'fuck' even once it automatically becomes R rated." (unless that is true in the states, our indepenent film had like 20 f-bombs and it only got our version of pg-13.)
There's other weird stuff too, like allegedly you can't have a character point a gun at the camera, so Zack Snyder had a walkie-talkie photoshopped into Ozymandias' assasin's hand for the Watchmen trailer.

If a film uses "one of the harsher sexually derived words" (such as fuck) one to three times, it is routine today for the film to receive a PG-13 rating, provided that the word is used as an expletive and not with a sexual meaning (this was mentioned in Be Cool, when Chili Palmer complains about the movie industry. Fuck is said twice in that scene with many other uses of coarse language, giving the movie a PG-13). An example of a film that might suggest this criterion is Waiting for Guffman, which contains mostly PG-13 content, yet is rated R (brief strong language) because a man auditioning for a role uses fuck while quoting Raging Bull (the only time it is spoken in the movie), in a sexual sense. An R rating was also given to Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines which had PG-13 level violence, but had 4 uses of fuck. Exceptions may be allowed, "by a special vote of the ratings board" where the board feels such an exception would better reflect the sensibilities of American parents. A couple of exceptions were noted: rare films such as Guilty by Suspicion were allowed as many as nine uses of the word; probably due to the precedent set in the 1970s by politically important films such as All the President's Men. All the President's Men was once rated R but then it was re-rated PG on appeal. It is a common misconception that if a movie uses fuck in a nonsexual context more than once, it will automatically receive an R rating. In reality, PG-13 movies are routinely allowed two or three uses. But there have been two extreme circumstances so far: Gunner Palace has 42 uses of the word, 2 used sexually,[19] and The Hip Hop Project has 17 uses. Both films were rated PG-13 on appeal from an R rating.
The MPAA is so fucked. I mean don't get me wrong, Rambo 4 was a great film but there is no fucking way it should be ok for something that violent to be released with the same rating as a movie that says fuck 3 or 4 times.

well clearly foul language has a much more negative effect on young minds than depictions of gruesome, bloody violence.
When I first started hearing about this book, I was so excited. Post apocalyptic shtuff? My kinda game. Walking around with a kid? Eh, not so great. I hate children.
As the final pages drew near, my heart sunk. I had admitted to myself halfway through the novel that I really wasn't enjoying myself and often fell asleep with it on my face. Alas, the story ended, and it left me more dissatisfied than my jobless worthless ex-boyfriend after 6 Guinesses on St. Patrick's day.
Then I found out Viggo was starring in the movie adaptation. *sigh* I'll go see it just to watch my future ex husband walk more miles than he did in all three movies of the Rings trilogy combined. Curses.
it confuses the hell out of me when people say The Road was too "depressing" to read
were we reading the same book? did you finish it?
but jesus christ, I'm not sure I could watch a movie version. too painful. I mean, I heard a little bit of my dad's book on tape version and geez, that was hard just to listen to.

I don't think there is a theater in the world that can hold that much manly.
It gets better.
Jeremy Irons is the outlaw leader.
Jeremy Irons is playing a bad guy.
So they're trying to ruin EACH OTHER.
EDIT: Shit Ed Harris is in it too. He and Viggo are sheriffs.

The book was more depressing than The Jungle!

Ah, but see. Gary Oldman is in every movie made since 1986. You just don't recogize him. The guy's a freakin' shape shifter I tell ya.
