Fun fact: I never actually got full tier 5 on live, the pants were shitty and though I would have taken them for off-spec just to have the full set, I never got the chance. I didn't get the robe either until long after I had Archimonde's and maybe even tier 6 robe, which also sits in my bank.
Other fun fact: The characters on that PTR weren't actually premades wearing tier 5, they were your own character transfers for which you had to pick up a box o' gear from the Brothers McWeaksauce in Shattrath. My mainhand in that screenshot was obtained by picking up the paladin box, because the warlock and mage boxes came with the shitty Kael staff while the paladin box had Leo's sword.

I forget, how much, if any, does the xp from lower level quests scale down? I stopped playing my 51 warrior before the Dustwallow revamp, I'm not sure how much it'd be worth my time.

I don't think you'd get much XP at all, if any.
It would count towards the 3000 quests achievement though.
