Someday, I will do something fantastic with my hair. This is why I can still look like a 16 year-old if I want. Because I never got to do something silly with my hair while I was in high school. It's true. They're waiting for me.

So I'm going to do that, soon. Someday soon. I'm going to like ... put a highlight in. Of a color.

I've dated a couple of women with eyes like that.

It's pretty common for very pale eyes to reflect green, grey, or blue depending on the ambient light and the person's mood.

Yeah, mine do that. Two parents with green eyes mean mine used to be Super Ultra Blue, but are now blue sometimes, hazel sometimes, green sometimes. It's fun!

I'm not certain though, does having two green-eyed parents increase my chances of eventually settling on green? Or does it just mean less brown pigment and therefore a general blue-ish pigmentation?

That's the weird thing, though. My eye color is very vibrant, so I can't figure out why they change color. It's mostly with my mood, though, so maybe something to do with blood vessels? Dyrwen tells me they turn reddish brown when I'm angry, so hell if I know.

Also Feral that book actually sounds interesting. I wonder if most people with a BDSM bent settle into the same relationships? The idea of getting "better" at being the submissive/dominant partner intrigues me. It would seem like it's just a thing. But I guess you'd tend to copy whatever porn you saw/whatever you were told was "normal" in that sort of relationship by your culture.

Well, being a top particularly involves some pretty specific pragmatic skills and knowledge - I mean, just learning how to tie a few sailor's knots, learning the different properties of different types of rope and fabric, and learning a little bit about anatomy so you know how to bind somebody or inflict pain without causing serious injury are all really helpful.

BDSM is a culture and a community (or, more precisely, a common element among a number of overlapping subcultures) as well so having a book that describes to you some of the mores and expectations of the people in those subcultures as well as some of the more esoteric lingo helps too.

But mostly those books just tell you to do three things: respect your partner, be introspective about what you want out of the relationship, and communicate communicate communicate.

It did evolve out of early Hinduism, but it was also opposed to it. I'm still early on in my class, but, I'll let you know as I learn more. Yeah, there are supernatural powers and stuff in the old documents, but once again it's not something that an intelligent person should take literally.

And yes, it grew out of flawed, nonsecular beliefs but considering impermanence is one of it's core tenets it's always been changing, especially recently. So, it seems a little mean to write it off entirely because of its roots.

Buddhism makes it easy to separate the life philosophy from the cosmology. Many Buddhist texts explicitly say: take as much as you want from me, and leave the rest. Buddhism encourages the follower to put down their illusions and deal with life as it is presented to you, and not take anything for granted.

Some of the more esoteric forms of Buddhism emphasize the cosmological and mythological aspects more; their pantheons of gods and spirits and prior Buddhas. But it is entirely possible to ignore all of that and still practice a meaningful, secular form of Buddhism.

Something about the culture and all the rules bothers me. I'm not very interested in that sort of thing, but I've thought that if I was, then the standard stuff wouldn't do it for me. Like, if tying people up was my thing, I'd want to actually tie them up completely, not tie them up but they have a safe word to get out if they need or something.
