Ok, from what I'm reading there are two separate things about the vote/trap dealy.
1st: The last person to vote chooses a color to input, within vote close +10 minutes.
2nd: The code. The Code is set to a color (blue by default) which the input that the last person to vote put in. If the input and the code match, the kill goes off on the highest person, if they don't match, it goes onto a different person.
According to the wiki article, in the game the right code was hinted at in conversations. So maybe we'll have to piece together clues from the narration?

The code stays Blue until someone changes it. This includes today.
At the start of the next day, the setting of the code(not the actual one) will be made public.
Only certain incidents will allow one to know when the actual code's been changed and/or what it's been changed to.
Mostly just frustration, in every single main game I've played in I've never lived past day 4 and I've never had an interesting role.
I think this might have been the record for how long I've stayed alive in a main game.
Well, when I run my main I'm sure you'll get something special, of course I think that'll be like a year and a half from now, but at least you have something to look forward to.

Warhammer 40K(40,000), a tabletop game.
This is what I thought as well. Clarification definitely needed.

I don't count D&D, I love the D&D games.

Like, say, Snow Crash?
Wait, what's this? Vote effectiveness is determined by a code system and the code can be changed by whaaaa*brain asplode*
I bet they use the same system in the voting machines of Florida.

I could be completely wrong, though.
