I don't hate Orson. I hate you all.

But I just thought the idea of a Hindu weapons is neat because it's not quite as subject to the conflciting consistencies of Chinese myth.

Plus it's a giant dude with four arms.

    No
    Nothing is better than Orson
Also I don't think that dude was one of THE Immortal Weapons
He was just some dude who happened to channel a god

Fraction called him an immortal weapon back in January, so I'm pretty sure he is.

Really, I'm just not that into a mythology with its own celestial bureaucracy.

Damn suckas. You made me buy the most recent issue, which made me order the 2 prior trades from amazon. I do have a question though. Does this acknowledge modern continuity or what? I'm trying to stay out of Secret Invasion territory, and this issue had Luke Cage ridin' w/ Iron Fist, so I assume they arhn't suggesting he's doing his Secret Avengers stuff and hero's for hire stuff at the same time.

Oh... well am I going to be missing out on incredibly huge amounts of side story only explained if I purchase an overwhelming amount of crossover fiction, or is this pretty self contained? I guess that's my question.

You can understand the story just fine without reading all the backstory, although some of the payoffs and reveals may not be as cool

It's self contained, but it does take place in the shared universe

yeah they don't really do that anymore.

Even all the Secret Invasion tie-ins are self contained for the most part, except for maybe the 2 Avengers books - but if you're reading the 2 Avengers books you're reading Secret Invasion.

I hardly feel like I could have had a firm understanding of whats going on in "civil war: iron man" without reading "civil war" which is all I really ment.

As far as avengers, I've only read the initiative book one, and I'll probably buy book 2 when it comes out in december, but that means secrect invasion is hitting me at a crawl.

The first arc of Spider-Man that I read was his Civil War arc
Believe me when I say that they write comics so that everyone can understand what's going on without necessarily reading any of the other event books
The only thing they might do is not talk about a big shake-up that happened in the main book in the other books that month
EX They didn't come right out and say "Hey guys Cap lost" in every other book, they said to read Civil War #6-7 to find out how it ended

I actually like editors notes now and then, they are kind of neat for pointing me to a specific comic where some reference originated from. I do not like them assuming I know why there are skrulls on the planet and Luke Cage skrull is out and about and Hank Pymm is retconned. Then again, I guess they would be right to assume I know that... Argh, I'm just making dumb conversations I guess.

So ironfist is pretty cool, huh? Gotta tell you, used to think he was a little bitch, and undeserving of the first appearance of Sabertooth. Now, after reading some of this recent material, I will gladly retract my previous stance...

Actually for the last 2 years or so, the only comics I've picked up were Superman All Star and Astonishing X-men. I am no longer picking up those 2, because one is ended, and the other is effectively ended because I liked whedon's writing, not particularly too much else about it.

I just recently picked up civil war, civil war: cap, road to civil war, civil war: iron man, and death of captain america GN's, and that filled me into that event. I just got interested in iron fist, and figured I'd read that for a while, but the only reference I have to secret invasion currently is in a book that doesn't come out until december (avengers initiative book 2).

Again, I'm being dumb, because I read enough forums that I am filled in on any big events that would be referenced in the books.

Still not fond of Cable, but Orson Randall and the Death Queen of California was fucking awesome, and the main Iron Fist series is just as good as when Fraction and Bru were on it..

Camo's art was kicking all kinds of ass on the one-shot too; I think the coloring really pushed his stuff to a new level.

This one shot is one of the finest Marvel comics I've read in years. The writing and artwork were both superb, but as mentioned above, the coloring is what really made it. Maybe it's because of the time period, but I almost got a detective kind of noir feeling out of it, and I loved it. LOVED IT!
