They shut down ASAP. I asked them that question when I went in earlier today to reserve my copy. They really, really don't want to be there any later than they absolutely have to.

Some guys behind me started up an awkward conversation while waiting... I inclined to just play Order of Ecclesia and look damn good.

So as I was coming in to work today, they announced they were going to be discussing the launch of WotLK later in the day. This is on Radio 5, a BBC-run, widely-listened-to national radio station here in the UK.

    I found that quite surprising.

So because I'm a complete muck fuppet, I stayed up all night 1-5:30 installing/playing and now I'm sitting at work, reading this forum in between doing work only for the sole purpose of not closing my eyes.

Still it was worth it knowing I was more than likely the first 58 female Tauren DK on my server to
make the walk of shame through Org, getting spit on and having apples and banana peels thrown at me.

By the way, the whole Battle at Light Hopes sequence.....Legen
    dary

So please god people keep responding to this thread, otherwise I'll do more work today that I have in a LONG time.

    Two side notes:

    1. My server (Khadgar) ran great. No insane lag, no crashes. It was surprising. Granted now I just jinxed myself
    2. OMG people! Just because questhelper isnt working doesnt mean you have to lose all common sense.

Sadly though, now that I've completed the DK starting area everyone in my modest little guild of real life friends is going to want me to answer/walk them through the entire thing. I'm already dreading that. Cause we seriously have some short bus candidates.

Yeah, people exploded after 3.0.2 when their questhelper didn't work on the Isle of Quel'Dannas. They're fucking dailies, you've probably done them. And it's a small ass island-- read the quest text for once it's really easy to see what they're talking about.

install takes like 20 minutes including patching.

if your game is up to date then you don't download anything, it just installs the patches again.

Heya guys... wondering if you could help me out. I'm helping some friends install this and they don't have a DVD drive at all. Blizzard's digital download program seems to be borked and, of course, no one on their website knows what the heck is going on. Does anyone here know how to get a reliable download of this elsewhere? We have bought everything legally, but can't play if we can't get the data. Thanks beforehand.

I'm using Blizzard's download program right now- my brother already upgraded the account, so all I needed to do was sign into the account online, and there was a ready download link.

I'm going unholy, but I don't know anything.

Back when I was raiding BWL like 3 years ago, I remember talking to a warlock in the guild (I was a warrior at the time), and was telling him that I like the idea of a warlock but I felt they did it wrong by just making it another damage dealing magic class (obviously since then they've given the warlock a more potent place). I told him I'd be all over the warlock class if it was a primarily melee class (it looked like they were going for something like that with the firestones and stuff), with dots and debuffs to compensate for doing less damage than other pure melee classes.

So it's like Blizz heard that conversation and said 'Let's do that and give it plate, and call it an Unholy spec'd death knight.'

So obviously, I'm pumped to play the class haha.

So I went to Wal-Mart this morning before work to pick up my copy of WotLK. Walk in there and there are at least 20 copies on the shelf. Grab myself one check out and head on in to work. On my way in I pass a Best Buy and there are at least 20 people in line waiting for the store to open up. Poor saps, I sure hope that there aren't people waiting in line just for the regular edition. :P

Within the last 48 hours I had gone from not wanting to play WoW again to deciding I really wanted to pick up Wrath and keep playing.

I had no preorder in place so I started looking for Best Buys doing midnight releases. None of the ones in the Chicago area were within a radius that I felt acceptable driving. So I resigned myself to picking up the game later in the day after work. Well as fate had it the wife and I did dinner just across the border into WI and low and behold there was a Best Buy just next door. Some quick Internet checking reveals that yes in fact this Best Buy is doing a midnight release.

I called my brother and asked him to help brave the line of socially awkward folk and drove up there. We were damn near the back of the line yet they still had plenty of CE available. Grabbed it, drove home, installed and then played until 3am.

    Work is pain.

At work last night they had 6 ce and the first 4 people bought them
They sold all 300 copies of the regular game before 5am!
So I am glad I bought mine on the interest and currently waiting for them right now

What I find funny is I went to Target after work and they claim they will not sell it until Tuesday
I am kind of hoping I am pick up a Ce for my second account but I am not holding out hope for it

I went to a midnight opening at Future Shop last night, left way later than I had wanted to since I ended up clearing out the guild bank (DEing everything to make space, basically) which took a while.

I got to the store at like 11:55, and there was a lineup outside of about half a block, so funny to see what WoW players are like IRL. ;) Didn't really chat much with people, I had university students all around me in groups. I got there too late for a "!" hat, sadly. :(

Got home around 1am, was logged in by 2am, quested till 3:30-ish when I realized I really needed to go to bed, and now I'm at work wishing I was home.

Its not like it'll be playable till friday, anyway.

Y'know, everyone says this, but as I flew around Outland scrambling to finish leveling herbalism at 2 a.m. last night, several guildies were halfway through 70 and our server was fine. They complained of people ninjaing quest mobs of course. And maybe things will go to shit later tonight when all the non-midnight-opening people get their games. But I just don't find "the servers will be down anyway!" to be very comforting as I sit here at work, not even having any work to do. Ugh. Why can't I work somewhere awesome like my boyfriend does... He spends half the day playing WoW and the other half maybe ordering computer parts for someone.

Pretty much. Then three hours later wave two hits (PST people get home from work) and the servers fall over.

Honestly, I'd be pretty happy if the Northrend server died for a few hours tonight. Would give me time to work on powerleveling professions.
