I liked this better when they did it on Clerks.

I liked it better when GI Joe vs. Transformers did it, except it was a Decepticon jet and he did it deliberately. And looked so satisfied afterwards.

    Point taken.

That reminds me: I must un-anal-ise myself before I die, lest any religions featuring Hell are correct. Because if they are, I'm pretty much screwed in that respect.

One reason he might have remade some strips is that he lost the original digital or real world version that had enough resolution to put into print. Would be a boring chore if he couldn't change little things.

The one thing I don't like is that the cheating (X) motif is used so many times throughout the comics

I too love this comic strip, but only happened on it after it was stopped. Still a great strip, I just wish I had not only found it sooner, but that it was still being developed.

Some good ones that came up today on the random button:

Wow I never really thought of seeing that as a commentary on what he thought of the strip by the end of it. I mean, maybe he didn't, but now that you've pointed it out, you have to wonder.

I think it's less of a commentary on what the strip was, and more of a comment about what he thought it could have become. Stale. So he ended it before that happened. Honestly I wish more people would have the balls to do that.

There are multiple jokes in the comic, true. But there's only one joke lying in the bent nails. Which was mentioned, and you in turn spelled it out.

It wasn't meant to be an insult. Just a comment.

    A long time favorite

    I don't think I get this one.

The thing about PBF comics is that for a few short panels there's a suspension of real-world beliefs. You fully accept whatever situation the creator throws at you, and you're sort of transported to his little world, fully accepting whatever scenario he's come up with.

In the final setup, the truth is revealed; Sgt. Grumbles failed to support his comrades because he's a god damn bear, and was doing stereotypical bear things.

PBF pull this kind of thing on a regular basis, and we fall for it every time. Fantastical fantasy settings are shattered to the ground by real world implications, and this is where 90% of his jokes deride off of.
