The General is an old Batman/Robin villain who is a young kid that's a military genius. He showed up two issues ago I think, and now he's pretty big (but still a teenager). He shot Spoiler, which is why she's wounded.

The Jan Brady analogy is good but he already made it a few issues ago

Probably out there, especially since I'm not remembering the character and his history 100% well, but my vote for Red Robin's identity is...

Tim has never met Nite-Wing, from what Wikipedia's telling me.
It's either The General or Anarky. Given the choice of gun, I'm saying The General.

Lots of people evacuated Bludhaven, several other Nightwing villains from Bludhaven have been shown to still be alive.

Still, I don't think we'll see him, no one has ever used him beside Chuck Dixon, not even as a cameo.

Chuck Dixon's Robin is awesome. There were three mini-series before Tim's ongoing:

Robin (collected in Robin: A Hero Reborn)
Robin II: Joker's Wild (collected in Robin: Tragedy & Triumph)
Robin III: Cry of the Huntress, which I don't think is collected

After that, there's one trade of Dixon's ongoing. Flying Solo, which collects Robin #1-6 and Showcase '94 #5-6 (according to Wikipedia, I don't remember seeing that in my copy...)

The next trade is Unmasked! which is #121-125 (the start of Bill Willingham's run). Willingham's stuff isn't bad, but Dixon's stuff is awesome because he writes long-term so it's always bringing back stuff from way back.

I think one of the reasons his series wasn't collected (other than DC was awful at putting out trades in the 90s) is because the Bat-books were in constant cross-overs during the 90s and the issues were collected in those trades.

But you can still read all of Dixon's run out-of-crossover and completely enjoy them.

So yeah, if you want to find 100 back-issues, you're all set!

He's KINDA dead as far as we know. Darkseid zapped him with an Omega Sanction, forcing Batman's mind/soul to live through one crappy life after another, each getting worse and worse. If you ever watched Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, it's supposed to be kinda like what happened to Miles O'Brian, forced to live through 20-30 years of jail mentally in the span of a few real minutes.

    Thanks Owenashi.

No prob. If this death is how Morrison plans to go, it does leave a way for Batman to return.
Batman just has to fight past the torturous realities he's forced into and break the OS' hold on him, much like the third Mister Miracle did. Mind you, Shilo's was able to do it because he's supposed to be the new Avatar of Freedom and I think he managed to talk a visible representation of the OS into letting him go, doing all of this while stuck in an artificial black hole.

i just keep on looking at the two. I love how time changes art styles.

I do have to wonder though, why couldn't people draw that well back then? why are they so much better now?

People could draw excellently "back then". There's nothing wrong with that Robin cover.

The big differences between art of the past and today are a) technology and b) story-telling. Art from comics from the 40s and 50s is still great, but it was always the writers that told the story, not the artists, so the art was covered with speech bubbles and the panels would jump from place to place.

He wasn't in the Red Robin costume. He put on a cowl while the back of his head was all burned

Yeah, it healed stupidly quickly, but he wasn't ever Red Robin. We don't know what he'll be after Battle for the Cowl.

I hope that's sarcasm in your words, as I thought the exact opposite:

"Damn, that new drawing is so shitty looking compared to the original. I hate how dragonballZ hair is a higher priority than a basic knowledge of anatomy."

I don't think it's drawing ability. Some artists are far better than others, that's just par the course, and has little to do with time - although some older art choices look retarded these days - random pouches and mullets I'm looking at you.

However, colouring techniques have improved exponentially with the years. Comics do look far better now than ever before, and it can be hard to separate the line drawing from the overall effect.

As a personal aside, I much prefer Tim Drake's original costume to what he's wearing today.
