I've... I've done something. I couldn't stop myself. I've gone and ripped my laptop into pieces. I've taken out the very screws that hold it together. It has been defiled:
It has paint and masking tape on it!
Wait... What is covering it... Primer? WTF it's just an innocent laptop:
I'm curious as to your choice of paints. Since this is a laptop, the way the paint feels on your wrists would be pretty important to me--did you decide beforehand to pick a paint that "feels" right?
Well, to answer Tim's question, laptops are, for the most part, modular and resilient. It's just a lot of screws and the cables that hold everything together are really small.
The MAIN reason I didn't fuck it up is that I masked the everloving shit out of anything that might possibly be effected. There's basically no way paint was touching anything other than the parts I intended.
Also, the paint I chose is just a regular paint. The fact that it's a matte finish actually makes it feel ok. It's a LITTLE rougher than normal, but i sanded the primer coat down and the paint coat went on fairly smooth. I do about 5-8 coats of paint VERY thin, so that helps immensely. In fact, it barely looks like i used any paint/primer on my first coat, and only after a few coats can you really get the sense that it's a solid color. I find it works best that way. Most people aren't patient enough for it.
Nice job. I don't have the guts to even attempt something like that on mine.
I would never dare to defile my Macbook Pro, for Steve Jobs would descend from his ivory tower and lay waste upon me.
I've thought about getting an elegant little laser etching done on mine. But after five minutes of looking at designs I always end up deciding that it's too much effort and it looks great the way it is.
That's pretty freaking sweet man. I would have taken the whole thing apart though, removed the motherboard and all components from the inside of the chassis as well as taking the LCD out of the bezel. It's intimidating at first when you start getting that deep, but it looks like intimidation isn't something you have to worry much about.

Nice mod overall.
How do you not fuck up the laptop in the process?
