Problem creating new account for Xbox Live

So i went online and set up a new account with a new gamertag, bought a month of Live and turned on my Xbox to sign in. I signed in, but then it started asking me for all of my info again, and now it's telling me that my gamertag is taken. Well yeah, it is, because I registered it 10 minutes ago.

What, pray tell, am I doing wrong? It's asking me to enter all of my CC info and all that over again.

    I'm not 100% sure but i expect you will need to use the 'Recover Gamertag' option to get the online profile onto your xbox.

    Yeah Recover Gamertag sounds like the option you need.
