ok, so i'm gonna try to plan a poker game or two in my room, with plenty of booze/assorted beer/snacks provided. if it's big enough, i might even try to organize a tournament. i'd like to keep it in the hotel though, as i'm guessing playing for money at the meydenbauer center would be a big no-no. so uh, who would be interested? i'd like to see how many people would play to see how many chips i would have to bring, etc.

    I'd enjoy some more poker with ya this year, ol' box head, but probably not for money. Unless it was like pennies or nickels.

    If I can figure out how to play before PAX, I'm in.

    Please, does anyone have a guide that starts without an assumption that you can play Poker already?

    Every guide I find refers to other styles of Poker instead of standing on their own. I know:

    -The suits
    -The cards
    -What a "hand" and "deck" are
    -Jack shit beyond that.

    The only things I have trouble with in poker are a couple different hands. It's stupid simple stuff too, so me am dum.

    I never rememeber which is better of two pair or three of a kind and which is better of straight and flush.

    don't suppose anyone would be interest in a forty or fifty dollar game? we used to play with 20 bucks, but after getting a real job and playing at the casino it's just not the same.

    A full day of video game goodness can only be topped off with poker and beer. This sounds like a fun idea except not for forty or fifty game. I'll have to see how much I have left after the trip to pax :?

    Ah poker is no fun unless you do at least a 20$ buy in. But I'll be in for a 5$ game, as long as it is after all the panels. :)

    Not to compete, but I'd be willing to figure out a way to get a "high stakes" game going. I'm actually thinking something like, $20 minimum buy-in .20-.40 blind pot-limit. That would NOT be the game to play in if you've never played the game before, but if people like Knight and Twisby are interested in actually playing for some "real" duccats, I'd be game. Naturally, this would be after-hours and a non-official kind of thing.

    I would be up for some higher stakes. As we get closer to the date we can set a time/place/rules etc.. As long as the game doesn't interfere with my PAX responsibilities, I should be good to go. We need to make sure Khoo plays at least one game at the High Stakes. I know he has skills.

    Perhaps we can break this into two tiers of poker goodness? Have the $5, wet-your-whistle Poker game, the casual good times game. And then have the $25 Texas Hold Em tounament where it's a no-holds-barred fight to the finish.
