Our job is to find [Leverage]

ShadowfireShadowfire Vermont, in the middle of nowhereRegistered User regular
A group of criminals team up to become a modern day Robin Hood group, robbing from the rich and unjust corporations to get justice for the ones they have wronged.

Nate Ford (Timothy Hutton)
Fixer/Team Lead (Mastermind)
Nate is a former insurance investigator. The company he worked for refused to pay for treatment for his son, and once his son died, he quit the job and disappeared. He was so well known amongst the criminal world that everyone knows his story. Now he organizes the newly formed team's operations.

Eliot Spencer (Christian Kane)
Street Sam (Hitter)
Eliot is the team's muscle. A martial arts expert, he is able to disarm a group of armed opponents in a flash. Not much is known about his back story yet, aside from being a fellow thief.

Alec Hardison (Aldis Hodge)
Decker (Hacker)
If you need work done on computers, Alec is your man. He has a history in all sorts of computer fraud, and serves as the team's hacker/technology guy.

Parker (Beth Riesgraf)
Intrusion Specialist (Thief)
Door's locked? Parker can get you in. Or around. Or over. She's seen using descent kits and lockpicks, understands security systems, and is your generally awesome thief. She also blew up her house when she was a kid. On purpose. For a stuffed animal.

Sophie Devereaux (Gina Bellman)
Face (Grifter)
If you need someone to get close to your mark, Sophie's your woman. She is a terrible actor unless breaking the law, where she suddenly turns out oscar-worthy performances. Also has a history with Nate (they shot each other while he was investigating the theft of some Monet paintings).

The pilot played tonight on TNT, and was pretty good. A few lines/scenes here and there that were a bit over the top, but the show seems like a good bit of fun. Going to be showing Tuesdays at 10 from this point forward, and TNT has ordered 13 total episodes for the first season.

I missed the pilot, but the exec producer has a pretty good blog, that's he has written for years.

He also wrote the Blue Beetle for DC.

I watched the premiere, and aside from blending like every thief movie cliche in the book, it's pretty good. I'll watch it on Tuesdays, especially now that House and Fringe are on mid season break.

Also, I twittered about it, using the keyword "Leverage", and immediately started getting followed by tntweknowdrama on twitter. I thought that was pretty funny, but also pretty good pr by whoever does their marketing.

The OP mixed up Parker and Sophie. Parker is crazy thief and Sophie is the grifter. Also it's cool Lindsey from Angel turned one season of being a badass into another job as a badass.

    You're right, I did. Fixed.

I thought the same about Lindsey. It took me a while to recognize him, but I finally did at the end of the show.

Otherwise, a lot of relatively unknowns, but they did a pretty good job. Especially Alec, but I like smartasses.

upon further reflection, Parker is horrible. The character and the actress are both painful.

However, Sophie makes up for it, so it's cool

I watched the pilot and I thought it was ok. The only fresh aspect of it was the perspective of the Hutton's character. I didn't know insurance people chased international theives and carried guns.

I always think of some sort of police authority chasing these guys, but in this world I'm wrong.

Well, they don't always want LE nosing in on what's going on.

I'm kicking myself, mainly because I was wanting to catch this show. Anyone know if it's on Hulu?

gonna have to fill me on what LE means.

On the hulu front I have never seen a TNT show on there, but I'm pretty sure they have some sort of the video on thing on the actual TNT website. If they don't then they are way behind the times.

Law Enforcement, a.k.a. the po-po. Depending on how sensitive the matter is, an insurer may not want to have the police involved, on account of them asking...uncomfortable questions.

Yeah, that Tesla is like pure sex on four wheels.

And the dialogue is just awesome. But then again, the writing team is led by the guy who helped write the script for the Global Frequency pilot.

Edit: I personally loved the reporter calling the story in at the end - "Tell him were leading with 'Crap'."

    No love for the Leverage?

The show does stray into formulaic Heist of the Week, but so far its been entertaining. The characters are interesting and the plots are just the right amount of convoluted

Agreed. I love the show, but it seems to not get a lot of love. It's also extremely far-fetched, but I'm ok with that. Adds to the charm, I suppose.

The pilot was by far the best episode. However, I find I'm liking just how far "out there" most of the episodes are. :)

This was a good premier I think. I think seeing how the team dynamic changes with the new member will be interesting.

I suppose that it was never a high interest show in DnD, but no one cares that it came back last week?

And why 2 episodes a week on sunday of all days?

I love this show and am excited about its return, though I don't know what's up with the schedule. Going up against True Blood at 9 seems like a poor idea, so maybe that's why they're doing the doubles?

I like that they set up a new background arc in the first episode. And that it apparently involves other extra-legals rather than being the team vs. whatsisname the insurance guy-turned-interpol agent.

They'll go back one episode a week after this weekend. This Sunday is not new, but a mini-marathon of the new episodes which have aired to date. The ad mentioned "catching up", hence I'm assuming.

The double episode schedule had something to do with locking in a new (programming) night for TNT - I read about it on John Rogers' blog (http://kfmonkey.blogspot.com/). He usually posts background info for the episode which aired that week, & also answers questions on his blog.

I like it better on Sundays, since there's nothing else on anyway. When it was on Wednesdays last season, it killed me because I had to choose between Psych & Leverage.

I ended up choosing Leverage because it's not on Hulu. >.<

The Spanish villain was distractingly god-awful, and I'm not sure an overarcing plot is going to work great. But they still do a pretty decent job delivering a caper a week.

Why they would do away with the original opening I don't understand though. The original "we provide..... leverage" was delivered much better and was the straw that made me give this show my attention after a pretty solid pilot

Yeah, I'm a bit disappointed in how they're handling the overarching plot too. They mentioned doing hiests that would lead to helping with the big score, but other than this one episode where they call that person for help, they haven't seemed to mention it at all. Optimally, they would have handled it like burn notice, with a couple minutes each episode devoted to it, but at this point I'm kind of dreading a clipshow episode with liberal use of flashbacks showing how everything was "all according to keikaku*"

    *keikaku means plan

From what I hear, Sunday is a huge night for TV ratings, so the move makes sense for TNT.

    Also, YAY LEVERAGE!
