    Obligatory post of Selkies sweeps:

I always wonder why people make a big deal about the sweeps in that when the part leading up to them is so much better.

Alright, so Spinnerette, the new band of Brody Dalle, formerly of the Distillers and Josh Homme's wife, has a new album coming out in like February or so, but they've an EP and a music video directed by Liam Lynch out now

    and here it go

    oh hey this is good

it felt a little bit QotSA-ish actually, which made more sense when I went back and read the text that preceded it

All I've heard is Prequel to the Sequel, and he absolutely kills that song

I'm playing it on Rock Band, thinking "This is actually pretty awesome"

And then the singing kicks in

    YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH

"Oh my god why that's so terrible why can't it go back to how it was before"

Also like the OP I've been listening to a lot of Sonic Youth lately, but honestly, Sonic Nurse is easily my favorite. I can take or leave the fourth track but it's great listening all around.

    oh me I do

I was super infatuated with them for a while and listened to them a loooot

not any more, but I still like them

I can totally believe that they're crappy live though

edit: built to spill is rad as hell. I can't believe all I've listened to is You in Reverse, especially since I've listened to it so many times and I have another one of their albums on my ipod already.

I don't know if it's AS boss as their previous album, but that would basically be impossible

I've been listening to a lot of Bon Iver's "For Emma, Forever Ago."

It's quite good, but I'm uncertain how much of my enjoyment is influenced by the story of the album's creation. I'm a sucker for a good origin story.

I can't believe I used to like dream theater, yeesh. This is the only song of theirs I still moderately enjoy, and that's only because of the excessive pinch harmonics.
