MotW 12-24-08 Mind Fu Batman (Holiday Edition)

Batman number 683. Hell Yes. This is why Bruce Wayne is the God Damn Batman.

(Real Spoilers)
Because even when he is incapacitated and hooked up to a 5th World New God memory sucking device, he still manages to kill a few clones and disrupt the plans of Darkseid with his Mind-Fu.

    Nova:
Motherfuckin EGO THE LIVING PLANET as a Nova Corps. member.

    The end of New Avengers:
Luke Cage making a deal with the devil(Osborn, not Mephisto) to help find his son.

    Thor was pretty awesome overall.

Batman was pretty good I just wished DC editorial and Morrison hadn't done what they did with RIP and it would've worked out muuuuch smoother

The problem is labeling. The story Grant wants to tell is too big for RIP, but FC is too big for Batman alone. So instead of giving us a comprehensive story in RIP, we get 3/4 of the story, and the prologue is promised to be in FC6.

Back when they were designing the general structure of both events, they should have made the decision to cut Batman out of FC and put all his stuff into RIP and just made RIP a FC tie-in like Revelations and Rogues Revenge.

Fortunately for me, I'm collecting both, so it isn't an issue. But for someone who does collect Batman but not FC, I could see it being annoying to have to buy a maxi-series that the person might or might not be interested in, just to get the conclusion to the story.

Yeah, they'll probably end up being cannon fodder for the Shi'ar empire. Although Ego is a pretty damn good ally to have.

I'm pretty confused why anyone thought it was a good idea to let Loeb shit all over the ultimate universe. It's like he's going through the roster of ultimate characters and instead of not using the ones he doesn't like he's just killing them.

    Magneto's helmet blocks telepathy.

I like to imagine that, one Christmas, Xavier gave Magneto a helmet capable of protecting him from Xavier's mutant abilities and Magneto, in turn, gave Xavier a tie.

Not that that should necessarily entail widespread slaughter, but it does clearly provide the opportunity for it.

Ultimatum is a dull as hell snuff comic.
I don't believe it takes place in the same universe as Ultimates 1 and 2. It's a tragedy that such interesting characters are killed off for mere shock value.
Then again, Xavier having his neck broken by Magneto was a great idea- but a ridiculous execution. (hehehehe)

The first issue of Marv Wolfman's Vigilante was all right. A bit wordy, but the mystery seems to be good.

Except I think we already know what the answer is (thanks to two other comics)
He's looking for a superhero gone rogue that's associated with the election bombings from DCU Decisions, and solicits show him going to the Titans. Jericho was revealed as the villain at the end of Decisions, and revealed as a traitor two issues ago in Titans.

Hopefully it's someone else because that would be lame to have the mystery villain revealed months before the series started.

Regardless of how stupid it might be, spoiler tags when talking about a comic that just came out would be nice. Not to mention the fact that most people didn't even make it out to get books this week due to the holiday. That Xavier thing is a massive spoiler.

In a winter of major event comics, of... varying quality, Ultimatum is just too Loeb'd up to get away with it. Perhaps if the MarvelU and the DCU weren't doing SI and FC, I would enjoy Ultimatum more, but they're right. It really is just a boring snuff comic. Since everything we've seen thus far have been the results of each situation, that makes it even more lame.
I still can't figure out how Angel survived a tidal wave but Nightcrawler died. Honestly Loeb, you'll pay for this bullshit.
