    It is the year 1985.

The treacherous Decepticons have established a foothold on the planet Earth, using the wrecked remains of a starcruiser miles below the ocean as a base of operations. Utilizing the Space Bridge, the Decepticons have regained contact with Cybertron, where they've continued to expand their area of control, forcing the Autobots underground. Now fighting an uphill war on two different planets, the Autobots have shifted their focus to Earth, fighting valiantly to protect the humans and their resources from falling under Decepticon tyranny.

Reinforcements from Cybertron have been sent to Earth to help reinforce their defenses. These brave soldiers find themselves on an alien world, changing their altforms in order to blend in with the local machinery.

Doctor Fujiyama, the famous scientist, has asked the Autobots to attend the unveiling of a new computer breakthrough at the Greater American Science Institute in Nevada, in order to improve human-Autobot relations and provide security just in case.

The Institute has conveniently high ceilings, allowing Downbeat and Barrage to stand without having to slump over. Thanks to his small size, Dropzone is able to freely mingle among the humans, if he felt the desire to do so. Deepwater, on the other hand, is a bit too tall to be able to fit inside the building, but has been watching the event from a nearby window.

A stage lies at the opposite end of the room from where the Autobots are standing, with stadium-style seating branching upward from the stage area. On stage is a state-of-the-art computer. It occupies a majority of the space along the back of the stage wall, measuring about fifty feet long and fifteen feet tall. A large viewscreen is situated in the center of the computer, along with countless buttons, dials, and knobs.

Large windows are to the Autobots' backs, where Deepwater observes from outside. Corridors lead out to either side from where Downbeat, Dropzone, and Barrage stand.

Scientists from numerous countries can be found throughout the room, some sitting patiently in the chairs reading over academic papers, others speaking in small groups. Many of them look with amazement and curiosity at the Autobots.

Dr. Fujiyama, a Japanese man in his mid-thirties, approaches the Autobots and bows his head slightly in respect. "Greetings, Autobot-o-sans. I do not believe I've had the pleasure of meeting the four of you before. My name is Dr. Hamada Fujiyama. I've worked with your distinguished leader, Optimus Prime, before. I'm honored and delighted that you were able to attend our function here today."

Dropzone looks the man over before glancing down at his own hand. He had seen humans greet each other, he knew there was some sort of ritual involved... the memory final came back to him, and Dropzone extended his hand in greeting to Dr. Fujiyama.

"Pleasure to meet you," Dropzone said in an entirely unconvincing monotone, not helped my his lack of expression - what with his face being a single unblinking optic and all. He wasn't trying to be standoffish - on average he rather liked humans - he just wasn't very good at being sociable. "Happy to be here."

Barrage brings two fingers to his forehead in a casual salute. "Yes," he says," Happy to be here doctor. Just shout if you need us for anything." like a horde of ravening decepticons he thinks.

Leaning back and gently opening a window he says to Deepwater "Be on the lookout, supercomputers are just the sort of thing to attract some decepticon attention."

Downbeat says in a jovial tone, "It is great to meet you, sir. I can not wait to see what you have made."
He thinks to himself, This can not be good. No disrespect to the humans, but they aren't exactly the best at making robots most of the time. I'm going to keep ready, just in case I have to blast it if it goes haywire, or an attacking Decepticon that might want to take the good doctor's machine.

Fujiyama appeared slightly embarrassed. "Ah, Downbeat-a-san, I apologize for the misunderstanding. It is not my breakthrough we are presenting today."

The lights dimmed slightly, as spotlights above the stage turned on, illuminating the supercomputer brightly. The conversation started to die down among the scientists. Those still standing hurried to find good seats.

"Ah, that would be my cue, dear Autobots. I hope you enjoy the presentation." Fujiyama bowed slightly before walking down toward the stage. He strode behind a podium that had been set up and pulled several index cards from the pocket of his suit jacket. "Greetings, honored colleagues and guests, and welcome to the Greater American Science Institute."

A polite smattering of applause emerged from the gathered scientists. "Many of you are aware of the leaps and bounds that have been made in computer technology over the past several years. Up until now, though, computers have been as islands in the sea, beautiful and full of resources, but unable to connect to each other, to speak with each other. What if computers were able to speak to each other across vast distances? An intriguing concept indeed!"

A sharp looking man in his late 30s walked on stage, clad in a smart looking black suit. His hair was neatly combed to the side. He seemed slightly nervous, but also quite eager.

Fujiyama extended his hand toward the man. "Ladies, gentlemen, and honored robots, I'm pleased to present Albert Gore, inventor of the internet!"

Deepwater fidgits around the window, trying to get a better view of what's going on inside. Frustrated, he sits on the ground and activates his audio sensors, directing them toward the stage.

"Inter-net?" Dropzone pondered quietly. He moved a bit closer to the stage, hoping to get a better look.

Hearing the incomming sound, but not want to raise alarm, Dropzone quietly makes his way over to the windows and glances up at the sky.

He was wary, but there was no reason to assume any Decepticon activity yet - humans do use jets on occasion, after all.

Barrage immediately excuses himself and moves outside. "That'll be decepticons or i'm a monkey's uncle." he pulls out his mark IV blaster and prepares for the worst.

"Consider it done My good bot!" Barrage yells back as he takes to the sky. Flying without an alt-form is one of those little tricks the youngsters nowadays, just don't seem to pick up quite as much. He wasn't sure why, different priorities maybe. "Bah, keep yourself focused" he says to himself. What kind of soldier's mind starts wandering just as battle is about to be joined.

The sound of jet engines increases until it becomes a loud roar. You see two F-15 fighter jets diving toward your location, one red and white, the other black and purple.

The red and white one, whom you recognize as Starscream, warns you in a high nasally voice, "So, Prime sent in the reserve team. Retreat now, Autobots, or we'll turn you into scrap!"

The black and purple jet, whom you recognize as Skywarp, begins to laugh, "Don't listen to Screamer, Auto-fools. You'd just be ruining my fun."
We're going to roll Alertness to establish an initative order. To get this number, go to invisiblecastle, put your character's name in the appropriate field, then input this number in the "Dice" field: 4d3-8+(your Alertness score).

After you click "Roll the Dice," it'll give you your result. At the bottom is a BBcode link that you can click and it'll automatically copy it to your clipboard. Paste that link into a spoiler code here after you write a little bit of exposition.

This is based on an 80s cartoon, so corny trashtalk is highly encouraged.

    Alertness (Decepticons) (4d3-8+3=3)

"Reserve team? Funny, coming from megatron's whipping boy." says Barrage as he levels his blaster at Starscream and fires of a salvo of blistering lasers. "Stick that up your exhaust vent!" Barrage had a incredible sense of deja vu as he engaged the decepticons. How many times had taken aim and fired as he'd done just now. Too many to count by now, even if he'd have been keeping track.

Dropzone had never been much for talking. Instead, he bolted out of the building, a small panel opening on the underside of his forearm, from which a small black sphere dropped, falling into his waiting hand.

Reaching the exterior of the building, Dropzone hurled the grenade at Skywarp. The moment got the better of him, and he found himself yelling "Special Delivery!" despite himself.

Deepwater turns and takes a few quick steps from the building. "You wanna come down here and say that, airheads?" The Autobot's left fist retracts into his arm, and a short metal tube quickly takes its place.
