2008 is almost over. So what were your moments of the year?

For me it was Blue Beetle #24. All of it. But especially these two moments.

and the closing pages of the issue.

    Either from Captain Britain #4:
Context: The reborn Captain Britain is fighting the leader of the Skrull invasion of Britain, who's hopped up on all the magic the skrulls have stolen.

Or the end of Black Summer
I'll see I can find a scan later, but Tom's posthumous speech is great.

Because he cared too much about saving the day."

It's too hard to pick a single issue. I mean - everything that happened in FABLES this year. The last issue of Y:TLM. Basically everything Brubaker has written this year. Everything Fraction has written this year. SCALPED. ALL-STAR SUPERMAN #6 (that might be two years ago, though). The LoSH arc in Johns ACTION run. Kirkman continuing to kick ass on TWD and INVINCIBLE. Ennis wrapping up his PUNISHER MAX run. Rodgers wrap-up of his BLUE BEETLE run. Bagley and Busiek kicking ass on TRINITY. Any of the ASTRO CITY stuff that came out in the last year.

And there's so much more beyond that - how do you choose?

Bottom line - it's a good time to be a comics fan.

Oh fuck I can't believe I forgot Punisher. The end of Valley Forge, Valley Forge was great
It's at twilight, or in the early morning that I remember Stevie best. The times he loved. The scent of transmutation on the breeze. I watch the sky perform its ordinary miracle, and breathe the air so ripe with chance and say my magic words. Just two, over and over.

    Valley Forge, Valley Forge
Valley Forge, are you receiving, over?
I say again, do you read, over?
Valley Forge, we lost you, how do you read, over?
    Valley Forge--

    This is America.
    Can you hear us now?
    Our lost one hundred-ninety-two.
    Our cold, dead sixty thousand.

On your firebases, your hills, in paddy
    fields and rainforests, sprinting through
    the streets of ruined Hue;

Dozing on the decks of Hueys, tapping
magazines to settle bullets, lighting Marlboros
    off precious Zippos, smiling, scared;

Captured in the whirr of Nikons, Leicas,
in muddy footage where the colors seem
    to swell and run.

By our words, could we conjure you?

Could we conjure you up, and raise you from
that rich red soil, and bring you back?

To lovers. Sons and daughters. Kin.

To friends grown old without you, puzzled by
the youths beside them in the pictures.

    To the porches and stoops
    where you belong.

Or will you always be that endless line of
figures clad in green; receding single file
    between the sun-drenched trees, swallowed
by gloom and glare in equal measure.

The steady lope of men weighed down by
packs. Ammunition for the sixties X-ed
across the gunners' backs in bandoliers.
    Canteens clumsy at your hips.

    Humping the boonies forever.

    Valley Forge, Valley Forge.

    Standing by to receive you.

    Over.

    what does khaji da mean

It was the phrase that the first Blue Beetle used to activate the scarab's powers. It's later revealed to be the scarab's name/serial number

I forget exactly what happened when Jaime yelled it out, though

Jaime doesn't use a phrase to activate the scarab; it's fused onto his spine.

Just read Blue Beetle because it's awesome

Thanks to Spectacular Spider-Man and Brave & the Bold, it was a pretty good year for cartoons.

    Aw yeah!

Then of course there's Iron Man and the Dark Knight, which in my opinion were better than anything printed this year.

I know I'm late to the series but I think from Fables:
    "Ok you win"

Bigby and Snow's wedding shot from the 8th trade (issue 50) was probably my moment of the Year. It had been built up so long I didn't even realize I wanted them to get Married until that 50th issue.

    For me, it was the last Y: The last man, especifically;
Did you know Elvis had a twin?

That or as others have said, all of All Star Superman 10.

Also, Daniel Way writing a Deadpool comic that doesn't suck is pretty monumental I would say.

Anyway, #1 moment for me would probably be Blue Beetle #25. Reading the scans makes me depressed that they're cancelling it though...

Runners up would be Final Crisis #04, Giant Size Astonishing X-Men #01 and All Star Superman #10.
