Wow. Tonight's The Word seemed to be an impassioned, genuine plea to God Almighty for some sort of sign that he still cares.
I wasn't expecting that. I mean the humor seemed like it was thrown in out of obligation.
Yeah, I was struck by that too. I think Stephen's persona has been breaking down a lot lately-- by the end of that I think he was talking to the audience as himself.
Only thing I don't like about the show right now is Tek Jansen-- seriously, I don't get it.
I've said it before and I'll say it again - Jon and Larry have no synergy. It was an awkward sketch that could have been so much funnier if the two jived better.

So it was YOU!
Honestly, so far I preferred season 1 of Tek Jansen. Of course, we only saw two episodes. Twice each.

You know what? Nanowrimo's cancelled on account of the world is stupid.

While I generally don't think it's that funny, the episode where he has to land his ship has probably made me laugh more than anything else in the show's entire run.

All creature will die and all the things will be broken. That's the law of samurai.
Okay, so looking at The Colbert Nation, it says the new Tek Jansen premieres on January 5th, 2009.
I'm also not that big a fan of Tek Jansen. Some of the stuff kind of falls flat when it's not Stephen dramatically reading it from a book. The "clearly you've had hundreds of girlfriends" line seems like it should be a funny line, but I never really find it or its variations that funny. Other one-liners like "Solar Plexsus," "Apollo Creed!" and "Pa Rum Pum" don't really hit with me either.

I just think it's weird that they hired some studio to produce it and the animation is still worse than some of the stuff shat out of Newgrounds.
It just makes me remember Birdman and then makes me remember that Colbert left them and with him he took half the characters. :-(
I always thought the Tek Jansen cartoons' animation was similar to those TV Funhouse toons they showed (still show?) on SNL. I mean for a while I thought Tek Jansen was done by the same people.

I'm on Hulu so I haven't seen that yet, but Colbert's character has been breaking down frequently since the beginning, especially in The Word. But I am biased I think because I've always hated the humor of The Word. It's just not funny, and it makes me cringe.
Yeah, Tek Janson really isn't that good, although the landing episode on Monday was good.
They were being dicks before, but I haven't checked up with them lately.
And I suppose I could proxy through to it or the official site (for the Daily Show, at least), but it's more effort than I'm usually willing to put into a 15-20 minute video clip making fun of US and world politics.

First they came for the Muslims, and we said NOT TODAY, MOTHERFUCKER!
They way I see it, if anyone was still wondering if CNN is still a respectable news channel...
They should have just played the footage from the actual thing. Jon's jokes were terrible and only made it worse. HAHA MCCAIN IS OLD WHAT A CLEVER PHOTOSHOP!

Yeah, it was definitely a segment more suited to him just shrugging and giving a "WTF are they doing" look.
That was the finest Better Know A District he's done in ages. Possibly my favourite since "Cocaine is a fun thing to do" and "Cocaine is a fun thing to do Part 2".

Bobby scared the animators away.
Alternative response: Stephen's cannibalism scared the animators away.

I think that's part of the joke.
Colbert and Colmes rocks.

"It's about rabbits at war!"

I watch them on Hulu, so I'm always a day behind. Damn internet broadcasts getting the backseat treatment.
Well, since he quit at the end of the show, not too long is my guess.

It's up now on Hulu, of course.
Also, Colmes is great.

2 more hours and then I'm off to, well, comedynetwork.ca where I can watch the episodes in (to quote Yahtzee) teeny weeny eye-strain-o-vision.

well, we still get the comedy network.

They're late though, and only show episodes on the next day and only after noon.
