I agree with Horseshoe, let the players do the work for you, especially in a mystery game. Just throw some false leads in there, and, just when we think we've got something, hit us with something out of left field.
xd10.hitsopen(8,10) is a better option. I found it on their page, and instead of returning numbers, it returns number of successes while still rerolling 10's.

Hey guys, didn't realize how busy I'd be with the visitors and I haven't even seen a computer in a couple days. I think I might put this on hiatus (re: not canceled) until things calm down a bit. Hey guys. I know some of you half-expected this (or half of you fully expected it) but I just got back to the University today and found that my course load demands more attention than I expected. Although I fully expected to have another slack semester my new courses have demanded satisfaction and I'm afraid I this game would will have to take a back burner. Please harass, stone and/or curse at me if it will make you feel better.
