Man, I still have to disagree.

I thought there were a bunch of good scares throughout the flick.

The plot was terrible, yeah, but it held a creepy tension throughout.

The creepy tension you were feeling is the fact that this movie gross $23 million. If something this awful can make that much money then I may just have to give up on Hollywood and just limit myself to Korean films.

Heh - I just saw another Streetfighter movie in the Apple Trailers website. I had no idea one was coming. It even has some notable actors in it... and I still have no faith that it will be any good. Wire-fu with people that dont know what they're doing...

The only good one was the original Animated movie.

The worst part is there's no indication it's a Street Fighter movie till the title shows up.

It just looks like Generic Action Movie.

But hell what was I expecting when the movie poster is this

    NSFW

Save yourself cash and just look at the movie poster for 2 seconds. The only good part about this film is Odette Yustman ass and camel toe.

To be fair, that is a really nice ass.

I was a little disappointed by Waltz with Bashir, which I saw because I assumed it would be in theaters for a shorter period of time. I enjoyed most every sequence, but as someone who knows very little about Israel's history I found it a bit hard to connect with the events in the same way others would, at least until the final bit which features actual footage of the aftermath of the Sabra and Shatila massacre. I didn't even know there would be a massacre until I got to that point in the film.

Anyway, are there any documentaries on Israel that might be worth putting in my Netflix queue?

Saw My Bloody Valentine 3D today!

It was a lot of fun to see body parts flying out of the screen at me.

However, my girlfriend's glasses didn't work or something and she got a horrible headache and I wish she had told me.

And it comes out in February? They are really shoving it out into the shitbin with no marketing. Which is probably for the best.

When I went to Apple to see the english version of that trailer, though, the Wolverine trailer distracted me. I know it is going to suck and I still can't wait to see it.

I'm not up on Israeli documentaries, but I usually find reading the wikipedia page on XYZ usually helps before/after seeing something based on real life (Also, Arik Sharon = Ariel Sharon). It's probably worth checking out Munich as well though.

Thought this might get a few chuckles:
Variety film critic John Anderson and film producer Jeff "The Dude" Dowd (who lent inspiration to Jeff Bridges' character in the Coen brothers' The Big Lebowski) made Sundance headlines Wednesday when a heated discussion over festival film Dirt! The Movie led to a flurry of fists in the middle of the Yarrow hotel.

According to blog reports (and one extensive missive from Variety's Anne Thompson), producer's rep Dowd had followed critic Anderson following the 8:30am screening of Dirt! in hopes of lobbying for a kinder review; he even brought over Howard Stern veteran Jackie "The Joke Man" Martling to plead the film's case. A few heated minutes and two or three punches later, Park City had its first physical altercation of the fest.

From Anne Thompson's Thompson on Hollywood blog:

"Anderson seems not to have hit Dowd very hard. "I didn't want to hurt him," says Anderson. "This was nothing close to a fistfight." Dowd did not resist and there was no blood. Dowd is a big guy and he's fine. He wants to convene a panel with Anderson, journalists and the Dirt! filmmakers to talk about these issues. Dowd and Anderson have known each other for some 25 years, and Anderson interviewed him for his book, I Wake Up Screening."

Dirt, by the way, is a documentary attempting to rekindle man's relationship with...dirt. Anderson's professional assessment of the film, according to Thompson, is that it's "poor, too simplistic, too redundant."

You'll be fine. The basic premise is this:

Liam Neeson is in a position where he is (as far as anyone ever will be) justified in kicking, punching shooting anyone he comes across.

leave your brain at home and enjoy the righteous anger.

If you start to think... things get ropey.

My bloody valentine should be called all the most horrible ways to die by fucking pick axe. It was as awesome and bloody as you can imagine. And the director was amazingly competent so not only could you see the action you saw it in glorious 3d.

God, I need to decide if this movie is worth a 117 mile drive (one way) for me.

And I have to decide fast, because I have maybe one more weekend (two at most) before it's gone.

The wife hates horror movies, but she loves Jensen Ackles (we're Supernatural fans) and loves 3D movies. So she's down. If I don't see this in the theater in 3D, I don't think I'll ever get around to seeing it on video, nor would I likely care to bother anyway.

On the other hand, it's nearly a two hour drive.

What do we think? Was it that awesome?

Aside from that, nothing I'm hyped to see. Taken looks good, but I'm fine renting it. Gran Torino was good, but I'd have been fine renting that too.

And Donkey Punch? What. The. Fuck. I think Very Bad Things covered this quite well, I see no reason it ever needed to be remade. It's like somebody just wanted to name a movie Donkey Punch for the lulz.

EDIT: Vikings? Aliens? I'm motherfuckin' IN. On video, at least.

Do you like seeing gore and nudity in 3D?

The film is a lot of fun, but pretty much standard fare as far as slasher flicks are concerned. I will give is praise for not just having the bad guy pick axe people in the chest over and over. He finds awesome ways to kill each character and it doesn't get bland.

In seriousness, though, I generally have a special place in my heart for bad slasher films. And I'd love to see something that isn't Journey to the Center of the Earth in 3D. I'll have to convince her that she really likes Jensen Ackles, and I think I can make this happen.

Oh, and apparently Great Falls has a digital theater now too (and is showing this in 3D)...so instead of 117 miles (to Missoula) it's only like 90. Speed limit's 75 (so I'll be driving 85) so that's just over an hour. Score!

I just saw Inkheart and liked it just fine.

It had some pacing issues and it's obvious the ending was changed (there's a moment that you can tell was the obvious ending and then there a cut and more stuff is shown that seems out of pace with everything else and isn't as good) but it was an enjoyable fantasy-adventure film.

    Hey so taken came out.

The first thirty minutes can be pretty bad, i suggest bringing an Ipod or something so that you dont have to actually listen to it.

Finally you get to some action, this guy is kind of like Jack Bauer except
instead of yelling, theres no time, he just shoots you, then he shoots you again.

The way he finds the first gu is kinda cool, thats about it. Theres a chase scene, but extremely bad shaken camera syndrom which basically stops you from being able to tell what is happening at all.

The main character is just..annoying and every scene with his daughter is unbearable.

And then he finds her and its really anti climatic and it ends and you walk out of the theatre and everyone talks about how awesome it was.

    Sooo yea...

Huh, weird. I was going by the Flixter entry that first brought the movie to my attention. Are you saying my phone lied to me?!:P

I could have sworn I read a corroborating article about the LA-on-the-15th release, but I'm not seeing anything now. I am now officially sad.

And I don't care how ridiculous it looks or how bad the effects are, it's got Kevin Sorbo as a hitman and Lucy Lawless and Renee O'Connor as nuns. I... just can't argue with that.

I thought it was going to come out on Christmas (of 2008) but I guess they thought that wasn't a good idea. Especially seeing as how Tarantino's Grindhouse's failure was greatly due to be being released around Easter Sunday.

I liked Taken, it was a violent father porn movie where he kills or mutilates everyone. Can't wait to see the unrated version so I can follow it a bit better. The daughter was a real cunt though and if she was just someones kid he wouldn't have cared at all.

Now we need a Denzel Washington Liam Neeson team up movie.

    Judo-chop, the movie.

EDIT: Wait a minute... now I know what that feeling was... like, they kept changing things on me, or in the back of my head, I knew the fight scenes weren't quite right. Every time somone was taken down in one hit, or one shot, that was just US editing to get the PG-13 rating.

Now I wish I got to see the full movie. It didn't do anything to the plot, just mentally, it felt off when the fights happened.
