I was all set to buy Civil War: Black Panther War Crimes, then I realized that it was a reprint of the last three issues. See, apparently the last few sold out their printings. Could it be that they're...what's the word...good? Nah, Hudlin's writing it, can't be. :P Seriously, pick it up if you haven't already, the story's been really good, and it's $3 cheaper in this collected form.

When he dies, I hope they write "Worst Affirmative Action Hire, EVER" on his grave. His corpse should be trolled.

Dark Tower was fucking fantastic, and virtually everything else was also. The only things I wasn't completely enamored with were the X-books and Action Comics, and those weren't completely terrible.

Seriously though guys, buy Dark Tower.

Shut up, Hudlin we all know it's you.

No, no, I'm his publicist, remember? I haven't called you a racist for not liking his run on Black Panther. That's the boss man's m.o., not mine. I'm supposed to be argumentative every time one of you guys disparages his run on the book.

I don't want to get into an argument on the merits of Hudlin's BP run, but I'm fairly certain that those last three issues wouldn't have sold out no matter how good they were without the Civil War banner on the cover.

No doubt about that. Having read most of the CW stuff, though, I'd have to say that the War Crimes arc has been one of the best tie ins to the event.

AICN has, bar none, the worst comic reviews in the world. Never has there been assembled a more obnoxious, borderline-retarded group of tasteless dorks.

Squasha, that review was mediocre at best. Then again, that place is amateur hour, so you don't come off too poorly. Don't quit your day job, though.

All right, done reading what I picked up, so here's how they stacked up.

Welcome to Tranquility kicked ass once again. More characters were introduced into the mystery and someone else was killed. Not a lot happened in the main plot, but some side stories are being followed. Why the hell are you guys not reading this?

Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man was decent. The art slightly bothers me. The story was all right, though not having read the previous arc is hurting me a little because this arc apparently relates to it. I was hoping there would be some hints as to what happens in ASM that makes Pete break out the black suit, but Peter David stays tight lipped about it.

Ms. Marvel was pretty good. Lots of good action that didn't just feel tacked on, plus some set up for future events. Also, Greg Horn rocks out on the cover.

New Avengers was pretty good, even with the somewhat messy pencils. Took a while longer than I wanted to actually break the team out, but it was cool when it happened. Much ninja beating. [spoiler:2edd7007d6]Ronin is still a mystery, though I'll say that it definitely isn't Cap.[/spoiler:2edd7007d6]

Newuniversal kicked ass. Ellis is moving the story along nicely. We learn about how the government intends to respond to superhumans, see yet another person who the White Event has changed, and watch the cop go nuts some more.

Squadron Supreme: Hyperion vs. Nighthaw kicked ass. It's basically the first issue, but from Nighthawk's perspective, and it's great. Hyperion gets an ass beating and some warring factions get their shit ruined.

White Tiger was pretty "meh". Looked nice and all, but half of the stuff that happened didn't seem to make sense. Cameo appearances by other heroes are nice, but please let them make sense.

X-23: Target X was pretty awesome. So far, this has been a great follow up to the first miniseries. The story is almost like watching a wreck in slow motion. The only complaint I have is that the penciller made Cap and Matt Murdock look like damn teenagers.

    52 Week #40
    Action Comics Annual #10
    All-New Atom #8
    Detective Comics #828
Helmet of Fate: Sargon the Sorcerer
    Jonah Hex #16
    Midnighter #4
    Mystery in Space #6
Shazam: The Monster Society of Evil #1
    Supergirl #14
    Welcome to Tranquility #3
    Fell #7
    Incredible Hulk #103
    Ms. Marvel #12
    New Avengers #27
    Newuniversal #3
    Punisher #44
    Ultimate Spider-Man #105
    Uncanny X-Men #483

52 was pretty great, even though it was essentially one huge fight scene. Steel is such an incredibly likeable character, though I was expecting more drastic consequences for Natasha.

Atom was fun, especially that scene with the pseudo-future warring superhero factions. This title took some getting used to, but I'm beginning to appreciate the loose and crazy pace Simone is testing out with the title.

Sargon was surprisingly good, making this Helmet of Fate thing a real (albeit low-key) creative success so far. I hope DC has more small crossovers like this, since it allows them to tie underused or forgotten characters to something much larger and hopefully reignite some interest in older properties.

Monster Society was, of course, fucking excellent. Though, the Wizard kind of came off as a pedophile. I can't wait for the next issue and Mary Marvel.

Seeing Supergirl getting the shit beat out of her was grin-worthy.

Fell was one long parlor scene, but it was done so dang well.

Hulk is still consistently great, but I'm kind of itchin' for him to get back to Earth.

Ms. Marvel was a waste of money and I'm dropping this retarded book. At least Supergirl doesn't take itself so seriously. They should retitle this book The Dumb Adventures of Some Middle-Aged Twat.

Ultimate Spidey was probably the best surprise of the week - I expected some reset buttons to be pushed and no real character development from these events. but Bendis didn't take the easy road. It's kind of sad how the best Spidey book around is an Ultimate title.

Well, that's all I've read so far. I'm looking forward to Action and Punisher when I get home today.

If you can find a scan of their original meeting from the Fawcett days, you'll find that this isn't the first time ol' Shazam came off as a bit of a pedo.
