no, the name ashley can be abbreviated to ash, but people can also be christened ash too. like people being christened chris, but chris is usually short for christopher.

so.... why do they keep saying Ashley, and then making refrences to characters named Ash?

Yeah, if it is male and it is not spelled with a K and the parents are not raging homosexuals it is almost always christopher.

    hah!

did anyone see the article in this month's new scientist? turns out, athenians rowed a trireme over to the miceneans (or some other race) to massacre them, and they retracted their decision later- so they sent another trireme over to catch up with it and stop it. they did it.

370 kilometers in under 24 hours, with 140 men all rowing. I think it works out as about 12 knots- and this is continuous, no-slowing-down, no-stopping feats of strength and endurance. no-one has ever even come close nowadays.

I forgot to mention- the people catching up were politicians. in those days, if someone in the democracy suggested something, they had to supervise it- and do it. the people who retracted the decision were the ones rowing after them. I wouln't mind seeing that nowadays.

It is true that the Greeks were badasses, Sí Señor, but the Greeks did not wear tights. Tights-wearing men named Ashley are the real concern.
