Happy Birthday, Science!

On February 12th Science and Awesome will celebrate the birth date of a man who did more to further the Science of Biology than basically anybody ever in the known Universe.

This guy.

my.php?image=fuckingcharlesdarwinkidcp1.jpg

Ooh, yeah, mutton chops.

Here is a story about this awesome genius and hard field-worker by a "newspaper" from his native land.
http://www.economist.com/science/displaystory.cfm?story_id=13059028

Those of you who read it will notice that apparently somewhere in the neighborhood of 70 to 86 percent of AMERICANS DO NOT THINK THIS GUY'S THEORIES HOLD WATER WHEN COMPARED TO THE "BIBLE", WHICH BASICALLY SAYS THAT PEOPLE ARE MADE OF CLAY.

WELL YOU KNOW WHAT, FUCK THEM

ALL HAIL SCIENCE!

The remainder of this thread shall feature discussions on the awesomness of Charles Robert Darwin, the factual veracity of his theories, and the radness of science in general.
Sup, God, we still cool?

We cool.

Edit: Dangit, I cannot get that image to display properly.

Somebody use their science to get some cool pictures of CD up ins.

Meh, really all it was is the publishing of the book. You can present all the papers you want to a scientific congress, to stick in popular memory is to court controversy in the public eye.

One of his theories was proved int he last ten years or so.

While exploring Africa he found a flower and it's petals form this really narrow tube which made it really hard for almost all the animals to get the nectar out because it was so deep. So he figured somewhere in the jungle there must be a bird that could do it.

They only recently found it, it's got this really long beak and an even longer tongue it's pretty cool!
