On February 12th Science and Awesome will celebrate the birth date of a man who did more to further the Science of Biology than basically anybody ever in the known Universe.

    Meh, really all it was is the publishing of the book. You can present all the papers you want to a scientific congress, to stick in popular memory is to court controversy in the public eye.

    While exploring Africa he found a flower and it's petals form this really narrow tube which made it really hard for almost all the animals to get the nectar out because it was so deep. So he figured somewhere in the jungle there must be a bird that could do it.

    They only recently found it, it's got this really long beak and an even longer tongue it's pretty cool!
