First off, you've all done a great job covering a lot of great music. Any list of video game music that includes Vode An and the intro from Soul Reaver is doing it right.
Fester's Quest - Overworld
I know. It's a betrayal of my avatar not to pick something from Blaster Master, but listen to the bass! This was about as much ass as the NES could kick.
Hitman: Codename 47 - Menu Music
A little foreign. A little dirty. A lot epic. No game in the series would ever live up to the experience I imagined when listening to this song.
Best OST was Brawl for me, I don't care if they "cheated" the rearrangements are fantastic and the original tracks are great too.
This was probably posted but...
N64- Super Mario 64 - Dire Dire Docks

Jizz in My Pants
Damnit, so freaking amazing!
Theres a kickarse metal version of that somewhere.
Its basically a guy beatboxing and playing the flute of the mario 1-1 theme at the same time. Its impressive to me, having tried the flute. Make sure you get to atleast 40 seconds in to see the faster section.
One of my favourtie songs, while nothing fancy its still stands out to me. It was enough to get me back into playing guitar, ill say that much. Metal gear solid 4 has an awsome soundtrack all together in my opnion.
No more heroes: Main theme
(might be called something else, ill edit it if it is)
Throughout the game there are a crap ton of variations of this, which more or less just add and instrument, make it a bit faster/slower or higher pitched or whatever.
Final Fantasy 8: Breezy
There are alot of videos online of people playing this on the guitar and piano (proably a few other insturments as well), as it is not a terribly hard song to play (at least on the guitar, the piano might be a bit different).
Honestly im a sucker for clasical music, so pianos, harps and those types of instruments are almost always awsome to me, no matter how bad or horribly done they are. (not that im saying these three songs are bad mind you) oh yeah, sorry if these have been posted, have been kinda off and on for this topic.

Dark Wizard for the Sega CD. The track that starts at 7:40 is probably my favorite. Being that it was on CD, it had a lot better music than most contemporary games. A full orchestral version was released in Japan.
This was also on the Amiga but I had an Atari ST because that was the computer they were using to run the local Nuclear plant, of which my father was an engineer at. And no, spies never sapped his sentry.
Sonar on
I'm building a real pirate ship. Really. Wanna help? Click here!

Haven't checked. I'm probably the 1,000th person to post this but the aquatic theme from DKC is the best video game song in existence. Thank you so much for posting that. I used to open my GBA up with the charger plugged in and fall asleep to its beauty. Amazing work.
Hah that's pretty fricken sweet and it sounds pretty believable too! Thanks for point this one out. 8-)
Although I haven't played it yet, I think the 2008 Prince of Persia had one of the best sound tracks of the year. The music gives off such an epic feeling.
Baldur's Gate II has gotten some love, but it's not just the battle music it does well. While I'm not a huge fan of the romance subplots for either Aerie or Jaheira, their respective romance themes are really pretty.

Even though it has had TF2 Scout sounds added to it, the Inspector Gagdet theme isn't particularly game related.
There's an awesome version of the Dire Dire Docks music called Pearlsong, but I'm not sure where you could find it.
Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura
The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
Diablo II - Pretty much the entire game, but Tristram is classic
Battlefield 1942 - not a masterpiece, but it captured the grandeur of the game
Deus Ex
Nisus - The Last Remnant

Wipeout 3 - Xpander
My favorite techno track from the franchise I've heard introduced many gamers to techno.
Breath of Fire 3-Overworld #2
A great relaxing track.
Lufia II-The Earth
Seiken Densetsu 3-Powell
A little simple, but probably my favorite song from the game. Just adore the flute.
Then battle themes...
Suikoden 5-Determination - Tragic Battle
Saga Frontier 2-Mißgestalt/Egg Battle
One of my favorite final boss themes.
Then...
Suikoden 2-A Prayer to My Mother
It plays a single time during a scene so short that you probably won't hear the whole thing. Criminal.
Here's my favorite version: http://housethegrate.powweb.com/ashane/audio/Ashane-norg-SM64-Sonic.Depths.mp3
It's a collab between ashane and norg, two artists you might recognize from lots of dwelling of duels.
It's more prog than metal, but that's why i love it!

Come on, Blood Money rocks cocks. No other game makes me feel as badass.
Suikoden II OST - Battlefield without Light - War Theme
I absolutely love the music in this game, made it all the better for me.
From the Pray Album
Toki no Hourousha
A fantastic rendition of the classic theme from that game
Also, from the same album, the crystal/save theme. Technically its in every FF game so I think its ok
Prelude
From UT 2k4 (PC)
My favorite rendition of the Deck theme, I always get pumped around 2:36 or so
Hyperblast Redux
Yeah, I think that was posted already.
I've rarely heard music that better matches the game it's attached to, while still being an awesome standalone piece of muisc.

A500 Turrican II intro
Epic...
God that game was brilliant. I don't think I could pick a single best track from it, but this one's a pretty good call.
Holy Crap I was just about to post this. I hooked up my Amiga to a tape deck so I could record that music and enjoy it at my leisure.
You could've made that song the final boss theme for a big-budget JRPG and it would've won awards.
The fact that it's sitting alongside even better tunes in a puzzle game about squeaky goo balls is really something.
That's not the intro, but still a good song. I enjoyed the overworld theme.
Let 'em eat fucking pineapples!
My bad, you're correct.
Pretty much the whole album
Also: Holy shit there's a World of Goo soundtrack? I must have eet!
http://kylegabler.com/WorldOfGooSoundtrack/
It's free!
I'd have paid full price for that.
Also I bet I'm the first one to post an Atari ST game.
Xenon 2 Megablast bitches. First game that ever made me jump out of my skin.

Not boobies? There was more to that game? Damn.
Ridiculous character designs aside, it had a good story, high production values(some of the CG is up there with Squeenix's work), and some nice music.
It also has the most tedious gameplay ever designed.
