Here are some pencils of my renditions of the dynamic duo. I'm trying to get comfortable with drawing them in my style and yet trying not to stray too far from the spirit of the strip. Once I'm comfortable with drawing them, I'll start on my entries.
This is really great stuff man, put it in a good composition and some good colours and you're in with a shot.
The nice thing about doing mine so early; I have time to get a second wind and do another one or two before the deadline.

I know, according to the comic, Tycho was not there when Gabe lost his pants at EB. But, since continuity has never been a promoted facet of Penny Arcade, I felt I could take a few liberties. And since both Mike and Jerry are judging, I felt compelled by my desire to win to work both of the main characters into my submissions.

It still needs a BG with stuff, which I was really stupid not to put in at the pencils stage, because now I'm terrified of screwing the perspective up.
Also I was considering possibly throwing in Precipice of Darkness Tycho in there somewhere maybe.
Is gabe riding down the tentacle? I am guessing not so you might want to move him or the tentacle just a bit.
In a PAized Alladin world, it couldn't be any more fitting than having Khoo, the guy who saved Penny-Arcade and turned it into a real business, to be the fucking genie. It's genius.
EDIT: I have to say that Jasmine-Gabe disturbs me greatly. How the hell am I supposed to go to sleep now?

Okay all fawning admiration aside, the foreshortening looks really weird. Gabe appears more to have his abdominals surgically removed than hidden from view. I can't pinpoint where the problem is though, damn my feeble art brain!
EDIT: I think it may be that the oranges don't jut out enough, they seem a little on the 2 dimensional side.
