My professor told me that if I hate the number people in colleges today I need to hate the G.I. Bill.
What?
Obama mentioned the G.I. Bill. Professor said today that the G.I. Bill is one of the reasons why there are so many students in colleges in contemporary society.
Which pisses me off because you don't need to go to college to be a plumber.

College degrees are the new highschool degrees now.
You basically need like a masters or PHD to be worth a damn these days.

Depends on the degree. Philosophy, perhaps. Engineers not so much. I'd say Architecture there as well, but I can't find a job.

I saw McCain!
He seemed smug for some reason
Maybe he just hates standing up as much as Biden does
Health care reform better not wait another year...
Someone said something in another thread about how Health Care is perhaps the single most important thing we can do to fix the economy. For a lot of the reasons Obama just laid out.

Because more people have them or because the quality of education is lower than it used to be?
You know, I think Joe's probably thinking that he spent all those years in the Senate listening to various Presidential addresses to Congress and now that he's Vice President, his reward is that he gets to stare at the BACK of the President's head.

Saturating the market and so belittling the value of a degree is detrimental to the value of a degree. Setting a college degree as a requirement for any job is detrimental to the acquisition of jobs and, moreover, a confusion of the utility and role of a degree.
Educating people is not detrimental. Creating a degree-mill state is problematic. Over-saturating the market is problematic.
Professional Philosophy journals, the good ones, have a 95% rejection rate for journal submissions. That's over-saturation of the market. That is the result of sending too many people into higher education.
Certain professions require certain kinds of training. Not everyone needs to attend a 4 year college to perform the tasks they shall perform in their lives.

Yep. I deal with being sick because I can't afford treatment... And that's with insurance.
