Watched the first episode. As previously stated, it started out pretty good and then quickly deteriorated.
There were indeed a lot of problems with the episode that might have to do with nerves, like nothing seeming natural and rushing past jokes and gags (for example trying to interrupt Justin during his impersonations).
However I think my main problem with Fallon is his slurred and labored speech, which is just not well suited for talk show hosting.
I also got a hold of the very first Conan episode to see if he also started out badly like some people here suggested.
I don't think he did badly at all. Now, I haven't watched Conan religiously since it started, so I don't know if there is some golden era that was a lot better than the end/beginning, but it was sure as hell several levels above Fallon.
Friday Jimmy was better. He interrupts people a lot and interjects his his own stories. I see it as a problem and hop he fixes it. Drew Barrymore looks desperate and wants to jump anyone's bones.

On the nose. I was hoping they'd get someone like Adam Carolla.
Jimmy Fallon doesn't really irritate me, but he's just there. There's never been any real strength behind his personality/comedy bits.
Hell, Jerry Springer would be an interesting choice, even.
Adam Carolla didn't hold his own show really well, either.
He had his shot on Comedy Central, which lasted three months.
Adam Carolla is astoundingly unfunny.

It's natural to be more comfortable around somebody you've slept with.
