There Will Be Blood is amazing on Blu-Ray

(that is my only Blu-Ray movie if you don't count Metal Gear Solid 4)
Get 2001 Space Odyssey. It will blow your eyes and mind apart,

I did not care one about Blu-Ray one iota before this sentence

is the difference really that grand?

lord knows I love me some tortuously slow sci-fi and I don't even mean that ironically

2001 is one of those movies that looks spectacular anyway. The DVD is great, but the Blu-Ray is that much better.

2001 kicks the fuck out of everything.

alright, so as a rule i'd knew that if a bunch of you hated it I would by default love it

said rule is still in effect

now, for my thoughts on the film:
The film is its own beast. The violence part of the equation most notably. I note that many of you think that things hinted upon in the book are bonked over the head of the viewer. I call bullshit, as aforementioned hints are nearly non-existent in this. It's trimming off a lot from a story that was pretty lean for an ensemble piece. It was outright the only way to convey that information to someone who hadn't read it before.

Only qualms I had with this? That goddamn sex scene's hilarious song choice.

Man, I'm chatting on AIM with some of my older friends that moved to Colorado a while ago, asked them what they thought about Watchmen.

    They hated it.

They also hated the graphic novel.

But they're like fucking huge comic book nerds.

    What?

That's it. Really. I hope the movie inspires people to read the book. I haven't seen the movie but I know that it can't possibly offer the same experience as the graphic novel and it would be a real shame if people start identifying Watchmen with the movie instead of the book.

    4 words.

    Lord of the Rings.

The LotR Movies are an upgrade.

The books were too much description, not enough doing.

Tolkien had a hardon for backstory, and loved writing page after page about shit that goes nowhere.

You think an uncut Watchmen film would have been too long?

I think it's possibly the best transition we could have hoped for -
the changes made sense, and olthough I would have liked more Rorschach/psychiatrist scenes (especially because of the influence Rorschach has over him)
, but I loved every bit of it.

    9/10....even if Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah was off-putting ;)

    I thought the scene where
Laurie realizes the Comedian's her father was handled pretty badly in the film, especially given how well it was done in the comic.

The movie was so good though, it's a shame Malin Ackerman can't act for shit.
