    Arcadia Post, Jan 22nd 2007:

    - Arcadia Police Bomb Squad successfully located and disarmed a hidden bomb stash Monday, found after careful search of...

    - Police sources indicated Thursday that they are nearing the end of their investigation into the East Landing dockyards, saying "As soon as we narrow down exactly where the contraband is coming in, we'll be ready to shut them down."...

    Ah Ship! (Smuggling):
Good Mission: If you can help identify the smugglers landing and shut it down, it'll be a major blow to smuggling operations on the east side of the city.
    Reward: 80 Points
Evil Mission: This is bad, a lot of stuff comes in through Dock 87. If you can manage to keep suspicion off it, they'll be sure to give you a cut for your protection.
Reward: Territory - Dock 87, East Landing (Evil, +10 points a turn)

    - Dr. Yin, who teaches Computer Science at Yates University, announced today that she has developed a new software algorithym named "Pinpoint" that can trace internet users to a geographical location to 99% accuracy, even with heavy use of proxies and other methods...

    Pinpoint (Electronic):
Good Mission: This is a great potential tool against hackers. However, as a research prroject it won't be on the market for some time - although if you can help make sure she gets it that far she might be convinced to give you a demo version...
    Reward: +1 Electronic
Evil Mission: If this works as well as advertised, everyone in the black hat community could be on the endangered species list in another year or two. Best to make sure she never finishes development.
    Reward: 80 Points

    - Cases are rising of reported "Hire a Rape" gangs in recent weeks. In these cases, mercenary gangs are hired to kidnap a (usually female) target for rape, or in some cases, to cordon off an area while the rape occurs in a public space. For an extra fee, in some cases the gang will "dissappear" the victim as well. Community organizations across the city are calling these criminals "despicable, hell-bound...

Amazing What You Can Get Delivered These Days (Sexual):
Good Mission: What...the..fuck...is wrong with people in this city? This has to be stopped NOW.
    Reward: 50 Points
Evil Mission: You should be getting a piece of this! Time to show these gangsters how it's done.
    Reward: 50 Points

    - Richard Kings was named as new head of the City Oversight Committee, which is tasked with rooting out corruption among city police and politicians. Kings stated "I will see to it that this city is cleaned of rot by this summer, and I have full confidence that...

King of the Committee (Corruption & Extortion):
Good Mission: Kings is a good, solid man. If you can get on his good side it'll be sure to help you with tips on your own investigations.
Reward: Territory - City Oversight Committee, City Hall (Good, +10 points a turn)
Evil Mission: There's more to the committee than just Kings. If you can get control of enough other members you can make him useless, and cover your own actions at the same time.
    Reward: +1 Corruption & Extortion

    - Riot In The Zoo! Ever since rumors spread like wildfire yesterday of a case of police brutality against local community activist Jon "The Lion" Dempsy, citizens of 'The Zoo' district have been looting and causing massive property damage...

    Welcome To The Jungle (Anarchy):
Good Mission: This report of brutality ought to be investigated, but in the meanwhile this riot needs to be stopped before more innocent people get hurt.
    Reward: 50 Points
Evil Mission: It takes hundreds of police to contain a riot. If you can keep things boiling for a few more days, it'll leave the rest of the city wide open.
    Reward: 50 Points.

Man I am dropping out of UM. It's fun and all but I'm having too much trouble getting into writing posts for Orchid and her crew. That and really, it's basically impossible for me to RP such a serious and dark kind of thing next to the Parent Teacher Association that wheels tanks around the city and fights with laser guns or militant wrestlers.

Does this mean that there's no violence mission this week? That would mix some stuff up.

I'll put my rolls up tomorrow, and my IC post after INNS's.

If rewards aren't claimed by IC postings, what happens to them? I'd hate to see the AW's Nice Points evaporate completely, you know?

    Can you steal unclaimed points?

Ahem. Not that I'm even considering it, but...

Unclaimed points, stats and territory will sit in limbo til the end of the game if neccesary. As I posted earlier, unclaimed points can be stolen in attacks, to prevent anyone from getting the bright idea of locking up points in limbo then cashing them all out at the end.

With INNS out, I'll be taking over BAS as an NPC group, at least until someone else steps up as a Criminal group, as otherwise the Criminal side is pretty outgunned. Probably time for me to start PM'ing people that haven't shown back up yet.

So it looks like Zombiemambo is out too. Currently puts us with about 3 active criminal groups (I don't know what Talon's been up to) vs. 7 active beneficial groups. I don't suppose anyone's up for switching sides, or pulling double duty?

The PTA could go all fascist -- they aren't terribly far from it right now, anyway -- it would be a different style of roleplaying, but I think I could more or less pull it off.

Maybe not the sexual stuff. I'm not sure how I'd go from defending the minds of youth to producing porn.

Hrmm. Any ideas? I'm happy to turn coat if we figure it out.

    The P.T.A. has gone bad.

They're still going to self-justify as a 'good' group, but their (public) rationale looks like this:

Both of the failures we've suffered have been at the hands of other 'good' organizations. It's time to thin the herd. The P.T.A. wants only the best for Arcadia, but in order to maintain order, there can be no outside interference.

The sex trade issue is resolved (or rationalized) as follows: In order to protect our youth and their fragile minds, we will take control of the smut business. With control in our hands, we can more easily prevent inappropriate material from reaching young eyes. If we (the P.T.A.) happen to make a nice profit off said business, then so much the better.

    Stats remain unchanged.

    Any issues with that, anyone?

    Turn 5: Arcadia Post, Jan 29th, 2007:

    - Tensions resulting in riots earlier this week calmed in recent days as "The Lion" Dempsy spoke out against the violence from his hospital bed, urging citizens to obey the legal system of justice...

    - Mayor Helms was guest speaker at the opening ceremony of the new Hope Park Police Post, a small station that would act as a base for officers patrolling Hope Park after dark...

Don't Get Your Hopes Up (Violence):
Good Mission: Hope Park needs this kind of attention. Probably best to show them some support for their first few days on the job, so they can get on their feet and help you out later.
Reward: Territory - Hope Park Police Post (Good, +1 Violence)
Evil Mission: You were kinda getting used to the old dirty Hope Park. This post still isn't fully staffed, if you could probably raze it to the ground if you put your mind to it...and it'd be sure to make the cops think twice about messing with you in the future.
    Reward: +1 Violence

    - Investigations show that Louie "The Frog" Opis managed his escape from Saint's Rock Tuesday with help at the Saint's Rock Docks, although investigations are continuing with who his accomplices were...

    Lockdown (Smuggling):
Good Mission: No point getting guys locked up if they just get out again. Find out what ships these guys are using and shut em down.
    Reward: 50 Points
Evil Mission: These guys do more work than just sneaking out jailbreakers - no steady work there, after all. This investigation needs to be squashed or one more avenue of traffic will get walled off.
    Reward: 50 Points

    - Orion Corp servers were violated Friday, and although representatives of the company say no serious damage was done, rumors are spreading of sensitive info up for bidding online...

    Falling Stars (Electronic):
Good Mission: Orion Corp is one of the pillars of Arcadia. They could lose millions if this hacker sells off his goods, and that could mean bad news for the city.
    Reward: 50 points
Evil Mission: Orion Corp's secrets could be well worth the cash. Especially if you get them for free by taking them from the kid with the get-rich-quick scheme.
    Reward: 50 points.

    - Videos have been circulating on the internet from a "Swimtime Studios", which appears to do its filming of porn movies on a yacht in international waters. The reasons for this become apparent when considering the material includes rape, underage actors, and...

Let's Go For A Swim (Sexual):
Good Mission: You've heard this boat docks somewhere in the city. Time to find it and sink this studio.
    Reward: 80 Points
Evil Mission: You've always wanted a private yacht. Time to suggest a merger for mutual benefit.
Reward: Territory - 'The Doggie Paddle', Westbay Port (Evil, +10 Points a turn)

    - Jade Corp security officers have been seen trespassing on their former property, now owned by the city government. When questioned they would not clarify their purpose...

Now Recycling Paper, Plastic, and Corporate Secrets (Corporate):
Good Mission: The rumor is Jade accidentally left behind some files when they were kicked out. These files hold some pretty secret stuff, including evidence that could keep them from ever moving back into Arcadia.
    Reward: 80 Points
Evil Mission: Jade might pay a bounty for files you could recover, but even better, the records they kept on themselves and other major corporations could give you a big boost in any moves you wanted to make on them in the future.
    Reward: +1 Corporate
