I'd rather have the option of choosing how I look rather than being "forced" to wear a set that looks like dog balls (rogue T8 hat).

I think one restriction on the "visual gear" would be that it has to match the armor type of your "real gear". Looks is part of determining a class from a distance, after all. And perhaps label the decorative gear as "Casual Wear" so people can't run around in Tuxedos. We do have to establish some sense of war.

Otherwise, it's an awesome idea that would give players a giant chunk of additional shit to do. But only if we get a formal closet added to our banks.

    That would be fabulous.
In TBC my warrior friend collected the entire tarnished plate set, and got a tarnished greatsword. Then he got a bunch of low-level enchants on them, like minor beastslaying. Then he would show up to tank instances in them and just stand around and wait to see who noticed.

You know they did this because of the clown suits people wore in BC. They made some "interesting", ok, some of it was completely gay, looking armor in BC so people can look kind of cool. Then they went into an uproar about how their gear never matched. Lich King comes out, now your gear matches, to a lesser extent. Now there's more complaining.

If I had to choose an amor set, it'd be this sexy number. Mmmmm, so skanky it's delicious.

Oh yeah, that was definitely a...well, I don't want to say a "fuck you" from the devs/art team, but damned if it didn't feel that way. "So they think we made them look shitty in TBC? Fine, we'll make them all look the same then. Let's see how much they like that".

I guess the majority of the complaints weren't specific enough. Yes, looking like a mismatched idiot was a problem in TBC, but while most people wanted more of a solution akin to a "set" or more cohesive designs, I'm not sure the right answer was to ONLY give those things, you know? Personally, I just wanted to see a bit more variety. Not a ton. I'm not talking a dozen model sets per armor type or anything, but three or four wouldn't hurt, I don't think.

Mmo-champ has preview of season 6 armor. It doesn't have the flair of the tier sets, and in fact all of them look basically the same, but I also like how they actually seem, you know, functional as armor.

Ah blizzard. Balance large portions of the gameplay specifically for both pvp and pve, but put in no particular effort for the ascetic parts of pvp.

Yeah I guess, it would be nice if they had more time for a few more models... But honestly how long are you wearing those leveling items? I thought it was funny that I'd get a new blue robe upgrade out of a level 76 instance and it would just be a different-colored version of my current robe, but that stuff is irrelevant now and I'd rather the graphics designers spend their time making the world I continue to look at look better, and the tier/other raid gear look awesome, cos I'll be wearing that a lot longer...

By the way, you guys should check out a mod called ArkInventory. It allows you to create sections of your bags that will auto-sort. So for instance, if you create a quest item section (not that it will matter post 3.1 for quest items), every quest item you ever get will always show up in the same section of your bags. It's sort of similar to the mod that makes your bag one giant set of squares, except this creates small sections and then auto-expands if you loot a quest item.

    Here's a screenshot: ArkInventory-Bag.jpg

So you can see there's a bag section for rogue stuff, meat, tailoring supplies, consumables, etc. And the great thing about it is that 99% of all the types are already done for you. You just set up the sections where you want stuff to show up. Also, if you *really* want to, you can create custom categories and then assign loot to them.

I have a section for holy gear, prot gear, ret gear, and other soulbound items like trinkets.
