The nigh-final rules are as follows:
- Open season begins when the doors open on Day 1, and runs until PAX closes. Action should be relatively fast, as we want to have a Master Assassin by Day 3.
Safe Zones
-Anywhere outside the Meydenbauer. Outdoors is all the way outdoors. Diving for the door to avoid assassination won't save you.
-The theatres
-While the target is actively gaming. This is defined as controlling an active console, computer or arcade device. Handheld games are excluded, so running around clutching your GBA/PSP isn't going to save you.
- Kills are made by taking your target's watch. Every player prints out the PDF in color at 8.5x11, cuts it out, and wears it on the outside of their clothing, in what is considered by polite society to be a grabbable area. It's big, but that's so assassins can grab it without fondling you too heavily (unless that's part of their plan to get it). Watches are to be paper only. Do not reinforce it with duct tape, steel O-rings or anything else.
- Should disputes arise as to 'who killed whom first', they target may appeal, and the dispute will be settled by a round-based game of the assassin's choice, limited by availability. The appeal game goes for one round and the results are final and merciless. I don't care if a horde of chihuahuas grabbed your nards and made you let go of e. honda's turbo button. You lose, you lose.
No Goddamn Kung-Fu
This one's self-explanatory. We play to have fun, and this extends to your opponent as well as yourself. Don't crotch-punch someone to take their watch, don't strangle them, headlock them or anything. Meld with the crowd, attain the proper position and make your play. Simple as that.
Counterkilling
You may counterkill. This is done by grabbing the watch of your intended assassin after she or he has made contact with your body or your watch and taking theirs before they rip yours off. While this may take some artful movement, remember the No Goddamn Kung-Fu rule. If you see your target, and he's not wearing his watch (make DAMN sure!), you're well within your rights to assume he's been counterkilled, and to ask him for his target. If he's still in play and not wearing his watch outide his clothing, in plain sight, on his wrist, he's both a dick and not considered to be playing anymore.

How can handheld devices be not safe? I'm planning on bringing my DS and playing it quite a bunch...
Because it opens up too many possibilities for people to just walk around with a handheld and never put it down.
That of course then begs the question of how much "non-gaming" time people will have to have to present an opportunity for their assasin to kill them. And if that is even enforcable.

While that's true, it's easy to tell when someone's just walking around with a handheld open and not playing against someone seriously. I mean, hell, if I wanted to, I could just go walk into the console room each time I thought someone was on my trail and sit down for an hour or two and 'play a game' to avoid them.

That's why they can catch you between rounds. The minute the "Carnage Report" is onscreen, you'd best be watching your watch, as someone else with a watch is probably watching you watch your watch.

I'm putting out a request for pics today. Every player must submit a picture. No picure subitted = no assignment = no play.

-This picture must include at least your face and your upper body.
-Your face must be visible, uncovered, and lit in a manner such as it will be recognizable in another context.
If you have a photo left over from getting a passport, scan and use that. It's perfect.

Once this is sent, I'll use it to make a target watch, which I'll distribute a few weeks before PAX, once targets are chosen and the participant list is frozen.

How soon be you wanting the pictures? I don't have any good quality ones of myself, and my digital camera be broken at the moment, so it may be a few days before I can get ahold of one.
Can we make a rule that you can only secure your watch with a single staple or piece of tape, can't double-fold the paper, etc? I think it should be easily removable; less chance for injury and more chance for stealthily slipping it off someone as they're napping in the hallway.
