(For Gabe) Local Cinema Group Rates

Any way we can get movie deals at the loval cinema. Some sort of group rate. I mean cheesy 80's movies about video's are great and all but if a bunch of us (and I mean a bunch, like last year) want to go as a group why should we pay max-price if there are other options?

Just a thought.

    I was wondering if it would just be possible for Gabe and Tycho to secure a certain gaming movie coming out in August for a showing at PAx.

    Here's a novel thought: Why don't we do it ourselves, and leave them to organize everything else between PAX-open and PAX-close? They've got enough on their plates without renting a cinema, too.

    They already have one special screening...you never know, it might be Doom. But I doubt it.

    ... Well the reason they should do it is because people would take them serious. They can get a better feel for how many people will show up to the theater and also for getting the theater to offer us a decent savings.

    or we can compile a list of everyone that'd be interested in seeing Doom (if it's out) or whatever, so we can tell them, "Look, we've got xxxx guys who want to come, can we get a special rate?"

    I don't know what "Loval" cinemas' policy is, but in SoCal, you can rent out a Mann theater (or one room) for a group. You pay for the entire theater up front, and then fill the seats with whomever you want. I'm sure that the price-per-seat is much, much lower. If we can get 100 people to go, it might make financial sense.

    I agree that that many video gamers watching a crappy video game movie would be cool.

    Its not that hard to set something like that up. Its like what I do for DD Events. Get a list of people who are confermed to be going(its good to have a big number, 30 is a good starter) and then call the cinima and make your offer.
    "I'll bring this many people if you lower the rate to this."
    make sure to talk to the cinima manager and be REASONABLE. people often try to shoot for something that can't be done, ask them what price they would be willing to lower it to, then under cut that by a little, not a lot. that will just make them angry and resend the original offer!

    I don't care which movie it is, as long as one guy gets stabbed thru the chest over and over and over....

    Yelling in a movie is great when it's packed with like minded people (Rocky Horror), and since only a handful them (like me) have to guts to actually do it, it's not somehitng to get worked up about.

    and as for the intra-PAX movie...Down with wizard and up with TRON!!!

    Amen to that, brother. Why did we have to watch the Wizard once, let alone again. Is the movie so bad that it has become "good", in a fun-to-mock sense? Or could it be this misbegotten piece of cinema has been so thoroughly disowned by its creators that there is absolutely no legal risk of having to pay any kind of license fee for a public showing?

    One can only theorize, but I am just thankful it's not an Uwe Boll flick. Man, those things suck bolls.

    But Tron. Sweet, sweet Tron. The movie that made a arcade-owning, video game programmer the protagonist. And made his video game skills necessary not to win any sort of mundane prize, but rather, for his physical survival.

    Tron featured a revolutionary display of computer technology. The Wizard featured revolutionary display of commercialism. Which one says more about what PAX is all about?

    The Wizard was my favourite movie until I was like 10 years old. I haven't seen it in years. I can't wait for it, should bring back waves of nostolgia.

    I tried convincing others to do TRON and the last star fighter, no one liked it. IMHO they were both better then fred savage and his stupid quest to that nintendo conference.And everyone magically loved nintendo. As corny as tron is, there were alot of good bits. The audio was too quiet up so many of the good jokes were missed sadly.
    Flynn is flying the stolen recognizer and is about to crash into a bunch of people. one says-
    "Here comes a headache!!!"

    *cries* Tron could of been a better movie from a post production point of view. eh, shiva(or was it nova) was cool to see on film. And no, i wont point out shiva/ nova to those who dont know.
