ummm... what exactly is female mormon attire.....i'm not down w/ twilight... but i'll be damned if i have to wear one of those god awful 'little house on the prairie' dresses.....

    ew

Except for the fact that Little House On the Drunk Prairie makes me giggle inside... it could be ftw.

Simmer down. One year at a time.

Read the OP, this is piggybacking on the one run by Atlus. We are a sub faction of the crawl, credit has to be given where credit is due as Atlus is awesome for having organized last year's crawl.

emo vampires? see you're referencing something here i'm not getting

and I meant twilight vs. harry potter not mormonism though it's a p. good theme

Basically it's a christian book series, that's sort of the retelling of Romeo and Juliet, only with vampires...and glitter....and horrendously emo ki *gags*

SEE! I CAN'T EVEN DESCRIBE THIS PIECE OF SHIT!

And the whole mormon thing is a paraphrased quote from MovieBob when he reviewed the movie. I'll find the link tonight (if someone would like to do that for me, it's part of one of "The Escapist Show"'s at http://www.escapistmagazine.com, work doesn't like me on sites with videos)

wait... wait... you want to dress up like *Mormons*?! That's even WORSE than vampires! Except the books with flasks in them, that's pretty good.

I'd totally be with you, but as a female, wouldn't dressing up like a Mormon mean I'd have to forego the pub crawl entirely and stay at home with 7 babies? You don't see lady mormons out haranguing people with their golden holy books!

Where's Alterna-Alternative Pub Crawl?! ANYONE??? ANYONE?!?!? At this rate, I'm going to be sitting at home by myself getting wasted, and I'll call it the "Nirvana Pub Crawl". That's very Seattle.

That would be when you dress up as a vampire hunter and join Clan Belmont. We slay vampires and do Irish car bombs.

I think you're missing the Mormon referencing here. It is commonly believed that Twilight is the writer's attempt a Mormon propaganda to keep young adults from having sex. Thus in protest of the Twilight themed crawl we are mocking Mormonism. Certainly not politically correct, but the humor is in Mormons getting crazy on the town...not staying home with 7 babies.

I say go wild if you care to but I will ask that the core people, the Wizened Counsel helping to establish this, be in traditional Mormon missionary dress with everyone else joining in or doing anything that is canon in Mormonism.

@Meta see...Clan Belmont isn't that funny. I'll admit, it's cool....but it isn't funny. Twilight, although horrid, is funny. Mormon's are funny. Belmont is just cosplay. :p

You won't be disappointed. Also our entrance music involves electric guitars. I don't think the vampires or Mormons have that.

I think that if I pulled off "Slutty John McCain" as a Halloween costume last year, I can think of a very interesting deviation from the Mormon garb.

I do believe these Flask Books will be required.

I find this slightly *more* scary than Twilight. Maybe because a Mormon coworker tried to invite me to a get together with a mayo eating contest...

Alright, before I even read this goofy ass thread: I'm totally effin in!

Until very recently, I was an active member of the LDS church. JUST TO BE CLEAR: I really do still respect the general overarching dogma represented in their church canon and also feel that the general cultural representation of the LDS church is very positive and helpful.

That being said, I don't think anyone should take themselves seriously and I am indeed a former Mormon for some valid reasons so I would love to make this pub crawl hella fun and answer any questions that anyone sincerely wants answered outside of being blasphemous alcohol drinking lushes. :D

Glad to have you aboard. I'm pretty sure it isn't any of our intentions to be offensive to religous anyone's beliefs, but we sure are going to abuse stereotypes for the sake of great humor and fun. I'd like to think we can all enjoy ourselves with this.

MaoChan: You should probably start keeping track of people participating in this faction of the crawl, as well as the one's who are basically required to go as missionaries. I know I'm one, I know you are one...is that it? Or is there more?

    inorite!

Sometimes, the most epic things start spontaneously and just explode. Hell, you should know this, oh bishop of the buttons

I always wanted to leave a legacy at PAX, a legacy of people saying "That guy was a jackass, but still made of win!" :p

I know it's not intended to offend :) I was just pointing out that even though I intend to go all out with this, I still really like mormons in general :D

Now, I just read the whole thread and some people are freakin messed up.

    Mormon attire:

Men and women dress conservatively at church. Men wear suits and women wear dresses... not very fun.

Missionaries is a different situation! gotta wear cheap beat up slacks, a white shirt (no exceptions) and a not absurd but generally hideous tie. Having the women use this dress code will be intensely funny, so I totally agree with that idea. :D

The author of the Twilight series IS IN FACT MORMON if anyone was unaware (which most of you are probably well aware of actually) But I've read the first book and and know of the remaining books... it doesn't seem to be motivated by anything other than a half-ass attempt at inventing a new vampire mythos to escape her painfully boring life... I really don't like her writing. But doing this crawl in light of the fact that she IS mormon and that there is indeed controversy around that is simply brilliant.

Yeah, I'll work this one hardcore! :D

I even have a ton of old mission ties still I think! oh! and I KNOW I still have one of my old mission suits!!! :D

/me runs off to collect things

They're not saying dress little house on the prairie.

I personally, plan on putting my own spin on the male attire.

I am so torn.. I could easily do the mormon thing, I will not do the twilight thing, and I am sorta into killing vampires.. (I even have a t-shirt that has all the vampire slaying weapons pictured on it: http://www.threadless.com/product/1541/Vampires_Beware )

So I shall hafta see how plans go out for the group of us going up there.. a pub crawl might be in the works once we get plans finalized (right now I know only myself and my friend Sedlor are going to PAX for sure, but there are three or four others who might be along..)
