how retarded is it for me to buy an iphone

please convince me it is a retarded thing to do.

The iPhone gives you AIDS. And AIDs to everyone you call or text, and the maintainers of any website you visit. And the guy sitting next to you while you use it.

I say the iPhone, specifically the phone plan, is expensive, but I pay 37 dollars a month for unlimited data, text, and 500 minutes so my perception is skewed.

If I get a Palm Pre my current plan might not be compatible with the phone and I may have to pay something comparable to what iPhone users pay.

Honestly if you're not scared by the cost then an iPhone is just fine. I'm on Sprint, however, and I like my cheap plan, so I won't get an iPhone. I might be willing to pay more for the Palm Pre, though.

Seems like it'd be counter-intuitive to what you'd expect from games. That mostly being performance. I remember Java's rendering capabilities were much, much slower than the same project in C.

According to teh intarwebs Managed DirectX is a good thing. Can you explain why it wouldn't be?

To be honest, though I went to college for programming, I haven't done anything with it or kept current for over 7-8 years. I mean, when I was in college, we were still using C++ 6.0.

I've more or less gotten VBA down pat, not that that's much of an accomplishment I guess. I got back into programming at my current job and now I'm very interested in it again.

So now I'm teaching myself C#, how to interface with an SQL server using ADO.NET, ASP.NET, LINQ, etc. I'd like to pick up some DirectX as well.

Drez, I hear good things about XNA but I haven't checked it out yet. I learned with OpenGL/C++, but I'm not sure that would really be much better to start with than XNA and it would pretty assuredly be a bigger pain in the ass.

Writing the story and coming up with game play ideas could take a couple weeks. Actually programming the game by yourself? Years. There's reasons that teams of people work on games.

The easier path is creating a super mod for FO3 that revamps it in FO4. For one, you can add strafing walking animations. Fucking WoW has strafing animations and it came out in 2004. There was no excuse for FO3 lacking that fucking animation.
