Looking through the RE: Extinction thread and reading all the love/hate/hate/hate on the last RE movie reminded me that 2004 was a pretty good year for zombie-fans.

    Boyles new film Sunshine looks pretty damn sweet though.

    Its got Cillian Murphy in it. and that complete badass from Last samurai.

    I don't care for Coldplay.
    But to summarize: I really liked Shaun of the Dead.

    This Sunshine interests me as well. It has a very Armageddon-ish plot but I'm guessing the story actually is a lot more than a restart-the-sun thing. I think they want us to think it's that straight forward but the actual story is going to be super intense and crazy.

    Does that radar dish thing protect them from the sun? Cause there better be a good explanation for that.

    Yes.

    although the premise is very 'core'ish, apparently its really realistic and is more about the journey to the sun and what goes wrong rather than some bombastic action film where they nuke the sun and win the day.

    I am betting it is quite character driven. Somehow the pictures of those characters make me very interested in them although they say no lines in the trailer. I'm betting somehow saving humanity as a whole is juxtaposed with the crew's interpersonal situation, using a microcosm to ask the question: Does humanity deserve to live? As they approach the sun all too familiar human faults will nearly ruin everything.

    Or something I dunno maybe just a lot of sweaty sex.

    Also that poster for Sunshine looks ridiculous. "If the sun dies, so do we"? What kind of a shitty tagline is that?

    Blame hollywood producers for shit like that. Once it's out of the director's hands they often repeatedly sodomize an idea to make it more appealing for dumb people.

    Fuck those pricks.

    I can already see it, a bunch of 28-year-old actors pretending to be 14, running around, falling in love and getting killed by a cheesy villain.

    Also: Shaun and Dawn were both pretty good movies. Land of the Dead was some kind of Sci-Fi original movie bullshit.

    The Ring was an ok remake, nowhere near as good as the original Ringu though.

    And the Dawn remake was pretty decent. Fast zombies is like the ultimate nightmare.

    The horses thing was fine.

    Seems you just hate horses. In the film they worked, especially one on the boat jumping into the sea. That was kinda creepy.

    I like horses. But it really had no bearing on.. anything. It seemed like some sort of shitty flavor to give it a more Western feel that ultimately ended up being a useless dead end plot thread.

    Edit: And I like mediocre movies. I'll be happy with them.

    But something about the horses ruined it.

    Shaun was a great movie. I didn't like how sad it got towards the end, especially
    with his mother and all
    but I still thoroughly enjoyed the movie.
