After I saw the theatrical trailer for the first time I went home and watched "The 300 Spartans". I hope the new one is as rad as the old one...

No, they shouldn't have. Look at what Hollywood as done to other ancient epic battles worthy of excellent storytelling.

Namely, that piece of excrement named "Troy".

A "dramatic" portrayal of Thermopylae would have come out weak and filled in with over hyped actors. I thank god they did the frank miller verson.
Wow, you sure know what you're talking about!

Seriously, an entire epic series of informative and incredibly bad ass movies. We don't have to have faggy elves and stoner midgets to tell some awesome stories. Stupid Hollywood.

Well it does kind of make sense. I mean most of the movies in the last few years that have tried to be all epic and shit have sucked.

300 is not historical in any sense of the word.

There are mythical creatures in this flick. Also, Spartans practiced the complete opposite of freedom. They enslaved themselves as soldiers for the ruling class, gave kids no choice as to what they'll do in life or how they'll be treated (it wasn't rare for their parents to have sexual relations with them, among other things)... they were one of the most wicked (the bad kind) society to walk the earth. They were successful because they were so mindless to their tribe.

But it's going to kick. ass.

You post as though we didn't already know this.

Knob was saying "you can't spoiler history" in the sense that the Spartans lost. I mean, I know you just wanted to look smart, so it's cool, but you failed.

    ...good point?

Anyone in the Seattle area want to go next week? I just remembered the awesomeness that was watching Snakes on a Mother Fucking Plane with a theater full of PAXers.

    Screen: "SNAKES"
    PAXer: "BUT WHERE ARE THEY"
    Screen: "...on a plane"
    PAXer: "OH"

    also...
the "spartan" contigent had over twice as many thespians as spartans. this movie should be called "300 spartans and like 700+ thespians."

Notice how there are never any Canadian troops in WWII movies?

Probably because the 1st SS was killing them faster than they could land in country.

Jews hate Canadians due to some long ago slight. That is why their heroic feats have yet to be on the big screen.

I used to feel the same way, Dyna, until I started going to midnight shows with about 40 friends and coworkers.

    Holy shit it's awesome.

Especially Snakes on a Plane, where we were pretty much the only group there, and 2/3 of us were totally shit-faced.

    Where's here?

And yeah, Snakes on a Plane convinced me that watching movies with groups is awesome. Just make sure the group is also awesome. In the case of PAX (or most PA ppl), this isn't a problem.

"Here" would be the Seattle Center, homeslice.

I'd say it's within easy driving distance of Seattle, but A) you already know where it's at, and B) there's no such thing as "easy driving," where Bellevue is concerned.

EDIT: Oh shits. Guess it's not showing there. Cinerama, then?
