Unneeded prescriptions is what got us into this mess in the first place. ITS NOT EVEN HARD TO DO CULTURES ANYMORE. ITS ALL RAPID. AGHHHHHH.

    :P
Look there were no pustules on the sores, okay

And it looks like MRSA, I told you, I'd been on doxicycline (effectively) before, and now I have both it and a shit load of other stuff to get the staph out of my nose and stuff

And stop saying my parents should be arrested :( They're still my parents, okay.

I have put Mike at risk. God fucking damn it. I hate this so much.

I'll be fine. Don't worry about me. I have no symptoms and it's been weeks.

please get some medication anyway. your immune system might be able to fight it without infection but you can still carry it.
I'll go to the doctor tomorrow. Unless there's no reason to.

    yeah that works too.

    1. Gently clean the skin with a sterile gauze sponge moistened with saline.

    2. Swab the site gently with a rolling motion. If pus or tissue destruction is present, culture the area most heavily involved.

A lot of older doctors still think they can diagnose correctly by mere inspection of the site.

how do you know her doc isn't doing that, and decided enough factors pointed to MRSA that he would being treatment now instead of later? and that if the culture came back negative the treatment would be changed or altered?
I don't. But if the supposed infection is only causing topic discomfort, then I would wait for lab results.

yal, tell me about your camera

It's a Nikon D40. Entry-grade Nikon SLR, one of the cheapest you can get. Simple but dependable. To be fair, it has some flaws(no internal autofocus motor, for one), but it's a solid camera and I'd recommend it if you just want to dip your toes into the SLR world or don't have the cash for a bigger better one.

However, you can easily get cameras its equal from Canon, or Pentax, or any other big brands. There aren't exactly a lot of BAD cameras made anymore. So try a few out and find one that works in your hands. I use Nikon primarily because I like the control system more than Canon's, not because I necessarily like their results better than a Canon. Things get murkier when you look at high-end or specialized focuses and functionality, or recent innovations, but the basics are solid for both the big boys.

Okay, looking over the specs, it looks like it does everything I want. The ISO is a little different from what you can get with film (I have no experience with digital photography), but the sensor is good enough and it will record in RAW. I'm not sure autofocus is something I need or want, I prefer to do that myself anyway.

Basically I'm looking for a cheap DSLR after having only used film and that looks like a good candidate.

To dig this up, autofocus is pretty useful. Most modern lenses have the motors built in, but older lenses(very cheap, very good) or classics like the 50mm 1.8 don't. This could either be a small problem(landscapes, planned portraits, still life), or a bloody huge one(impromptu shots, sports shots, anything where you can't predict where someone will be).

Well, I'm already used to not having an autofocus, so it'll do :P

Plus I could always buy a few more lenses in the future, no?

I'm going to remove the processor from my current computer, stick it in the new computer, and order an Intel Core 2 Quad to replace it.

I've also noticed that hard disk drive space is extremely cheap. There's no reason for me not to buy a 1TB hard disk drive.

its a possibility but its not one of those things you can back out of once you pay the hojillions of dollars
whereas I could be funded to get a PhD and be moderately poor the rest of my life doing research

Its a big moral dilemma for me. ):

there isn't. I've been thinking about getting an external so I don't have to get inside my computer... can't seem to pull the trigger.

I got interested in analog photography last winter and the grittier the better with me
right now I'm just tooling around with a holga 135bc because I like the softness an all-plastic housing offers

(also, "it voss cheep," in the words of an old friend's Orthodox grandfather trying to explain why he brought pork barbecue to a passover seder >.<)

I just found it in my garage, I need to hunt down film for it. Analog photography is really fun in a lot of ways, sometimes I really, really wish I had a nice digital camera though.
