PHP code tags hard to read

ZackSchillingZackSchilling Registered User regular
The code in the PHP tags are really hard to read on my screen. I don't see them used very much, but if it's a quick stylesheet change, it's worth it.

Example:
<?php include("/zz_include/header.php"); ?>
An image of how they render for me, in case it's different:

Though my color isn't as off as yours, the dark gray background makes the colored text really difficult to read.

I have, but its use is basically restricted to the programming thread.

Maybe if it wasn't so hard to read you'd see it more!

It is your font, not the forums.

My default font for Firefox is Times New at 16.

What does font size have to do with the terrible colors? The blue and red in particular don't go well with the background, though I'd be fine with just changing the background color.

EDIT: See, I find this much more readable even though it doesn't go with the forum theme:

Are you using IE7? I've noticed that fonts and web sites in general aren't as "Sharp" in IE as they are in FireFox.

Honestly Zack, even the thread title screen-cap in your sig looks really mushed together and fuzzy. So that very well might be the problem.

I'm using Safari on a Mac. I'm used to the rasterization and anti-aliasing of the fonts. It's just the colors I'm referring to.

Have you tried looking at fonts?

Maybe it has to do with fonts.

You are talking about fonts, right?

I think your red is brighter. That might be a driver/gamma/whatever thing in your video settings.

It is not a driver issue. It is a "colored text on dark gray background is hard to read" issue.

But if you look at my picture up there you will see that mine is a little easier to read than his is.

Barely, and largely because his fonts are smoothed/anti-aliased so there is less space inside of the characters.

I actually neglected to post how mine usually look (I capped his and mine after I changed the background in the box), so here it is:

    I'm using a color-calibrated monitor, and it's illegible.

The quick and easy fix is changing the background-color value of the alt2 class from #494949 to something like #c5cce5 in the master CSS file.
