They need to go back to the style of 1. 2 was one of the least memorable shooters to come out in a long time. I'm sure it was good or decent but I just don't remember anything that stuck out. 1, on the other hand, still sticks with me.
"Roots ?" I find both games to be the same. Switching between fun mindless gunslining and cheap scares and a cool, All American Ghost Story. Both games play out like movies to me. There arent even bosses. Just fight, plot, fight, plot.
I think the title is like that so that if it's more disappointing that F.E.A.R. 2 people can say it's not really F.E.A.R. 3 but F.Three.A.R. Totally different!
And where's F.E.A.R. Guy? Is that bearded dude F.E.A.R. Guy? Or the other guy... Alma's baby daddy?

I didn't like the HUD messages in 2. It broke immersion.
The demo for F.E.A.R. 2 was so unremarkable that I didn't bother playing the full game, even though I really dug the original.
F.E.A.R. had some really fun combat, and more than a few memorable firefights. It was the first shooter I ever played where the guns had some actual weight and firepower behind them. And the horror scenes were good, though I wish there had been a few more of them.
Also, you need to find Paxton Fettel, apparently.

I actually bitched directly at the devs about this at E3.
:^: you're a hero man.
I thought FEAR 1 was great, FEAR 2 less so (but still rather enjoyed it), and I'd be open for a third one. Except that stupid title. Call me petty, but I'm not buying that shit if it's going to actually be called F3AR. No, fuck you game title creator guy. Jump off a cliff.

I didn't even play Fear, but this is a fantastic story. Going straight to the top to complain.
Well Monolith is my favorite developer of all time and I really liked the REAL F.E.A.R. games, so I was able to say, hey guys love your work but WTF on check points and limited mouse support?

That's because there was nothing that suck out in the second game. Well, maybe that one part. But still, blandest rape I've ever seen.

As much as I hate to say it, Extraction Point was more of a sequel than 2 was, at least in gameplay. It was the exact same style of game, just with a wholly screwed up story.
I really dug the first FEAR, TimeGate's expansions included. FEAR 2 was just not made for PCs. Broken as all hell and a yawn. I have trouble saying I enjoyed it and I couldn't possibly imagine going through it again. It was a technically good game but completely and utterly lacking and had nothing in common with the first FEAR except the slow down.
I played the first FEAR through cover, leaning and being a sneaky bastard. I just ran into dudes and punched them in the second.
No lean? No proper key binding? Check points?
I don't have a lot of faith in the third installment, but I know I'll shell out for it anyways.
I don't care if it has the best shotgun ever (which the first does, to be fair). Not a dime until I have proof positive that it's not a bunch of recycled scares, a token mindfuck - literal or otherwise - and yet another cliffhanger ending to keep their go-nowhere story rolling. I just don't have the patience anymore.

Granted, I only played the demo.

Someone new must take up the mantle for Fear 3.

Uh, not that I have a lot experience there.
All right, people. It is not a gerbil. It is not a hamster. It is not a guinea pig. It is a death rabbit. Death. Rabbit. Say it with me, now.

Also I agree that 2 really isn't a memorable game, not to say its a bad game, just incredibly bland.
well, it has Alma on it. It sure does.

I'm pumped for this game
Judging by the climax of Fear 2, you're pumped for something alright.

Game wasn't balanced for lean.
Climax.

i c wut u did thar
You cruel, cruel man.
He needs to kicking one soldier, and exploding another with the shotgun.
Excluding the name, I'll buy this if it lives up to FEAR 1. FEAR 2 was kinda fun, but it was too easy and kinda bland at many points

Of course, it is the third game, and you know they're all about the trilogies, so maybe there will be some semblance of closure.
