It'll be odd to have a high pick in the next draft(unless a miracle happens, ha)
next up, fire the secondary
I think it would be much better if Cedric hadn't gotten hurt again. Asher's just not a starting corner unfortunately and Chris Cook doesn't have the experience. I think Abdullah's been better than Tyrell Johnson, but none of them are ball hawks or particularly speedy.
Antoine's the only bright spot and he's starting to get up there.

What I can't quite understand is how they can go from 1 play away from a Super Bowl in which Favre completely shits the bed, to a horrendous losing season full of misery in which Favre is shitting the entire bed room and still blame Chilly?
Mind you, I don't think he's a good coach either, but he's not the only problem or in my opinion the biggest problem. In other words, bench Favre and make my 2010 NFL season.

The secondary was built around what was an excellent pass rush. Now that the d-line is under-performing (to put it lightly) the Vikings defense is doormat which of course makes the job of a heavily injured offense damn near impossible.
Which is why I question the promotion of the defensive coordinator to interim coach. It's not as if he's been doing a stellar job either.

If Favre ever was their biggest problem he certainly isn't anymore. Favre can't be blamed for a receiving corps full of crappy backups and Jaren Allen suddenly becoming invisible.

Favre still might get benched. Changes have to start somewhere though and Wilf started them with getting rid of Childress.
He was probably the biggest roadblock to any Favre benching anyways.

Many fans hated Childress in 2006, 07, 08 and 09 too. In fact, the impression I got from most Minny fans I know is that the 2009 team often succeeded despite him.

So Minnesota fans are becoming dangerously similar to Philadelphia fans. Got it.

It was a very popular rumor that the offense (particularly Favre) started ignoring him when they took the field and calling their own plays after their little hiccup mid season. Supposedly Favre considered Chilly's playcalling to be too predictable and felt his substitutions messed with the flow of the game.
The promise when he was hired was that he was gonna get us a franchise quarterback. Instead it has been 5 years of bandaid QB solutions, poor clock management, and 12 men on the field on key plays.

Even before Favre showed up, it was pretty well known that Childress was very strict on letting his QBs call audibles at the line. It's a huge reason all the veteran quarterbacks that have played for him tend to hate him. Brad Johnson, Gus Frerotte, and to some extent Favre too. Favre of course just started ignoring him. The other ones left the team as soon as they could.

Why are people calling for Todd Haley's head now? The Chiefs are 6-4 and on top of the division.

Favre's done that, or at least often tried to do that, a lot throughout his career. Holmgren and McCarthy were the two who really seemed to be able to control him on the field, and even still Favre would still occasionally break rank and do his own thing.
Coincidentally, Holmgren and McCarthy are the only two head coaches Favre's ever had that weren't eventually fired. Rhodes, Sherman, Mangini and Childress being those who were fired.

I liked how Favre tried to hit that bomb on the second to last play of the game.
It's a good thing they tripled Clay Matthews on the next play or he might have killed Favre right there on the field.

Favre obviously has problems taking orders from coaches he perceives to have inferior offensive knowledge. With Chilly it hit critical mass because Favre is convinced he doesn't have any idea how to call plays and it seems his teammates and the rest of the organization feel the same way.
I wouldn't pass negative judgment on the Mangini-Favre relationship. They supposedly got along fairly well as Mangini named one of his kids after him and said he'd consider Favre as a QB coach in Cleveland if he retired.
Yeah it never seemed like Favre and Mangini really butted heads but offensively speaking they never seemed to see eye to eye and that's understandable, Favre had been a West Coast QB his entire career.

So this is the second coach to be fired this year, I wonder who's next on the chopping block, being from Charlotte every one I know is hoping John Fox gets the axe.

Green Bay plays the 49ers in two weeks so I'd put my money on him being the next to go.

Yes. If there's one thing we can all learn from the 2010 NFL season it's the Green Bay Packers have the ability to make opposing teams fire their coaches.

the Cowboys' offense was horrible and they still made Garret their interim coach

It's funny that LJ apparently owns that domain.
But, yeah... people are fucking stupid. If you go to the ESPN forums, there are a few people that want Haley and his staff fired.
I don't know why.
Shit, there are people saying that we shouldn't have fired Herm Edwards. People are dumb.
Josh McDaniels made the website.

This is hilarious. I'm actually happy with the KC coaching staff for the first time in a long time.
